Ang Mutya ng Section E Book 2: The Dark Side brought back Jay-Jay, Keifer, Yuri, and the boys of Section E after Christmas break. While the trio, Ella, and Aries know about Jay and Yuri's engagement, it remains a secret from some of Jay's close friends, like Ci-N, David, and others.
Things are getting tense between Keifer and Yuri as neither of them plans to back off in winning Jay's heart. At the same time, they're also worried bout her, as Section E boys have enemies and they all have been trying to attack Jay, just like Ram did in Ang Mutya ng Section E Season 1, followed by an attack on her and Rory in episode 1 of Ang Mutya ng Section E Book 2: The Dark Side.
So now, in episode 2, the boys decide to teach her self-defense. Titled "Self-defence 101", the chapter starts with Jay learning moves to defeat her enemies. Soon, Keifer steps in, pulling her closer and explaining to her how to fight.
The demo session turned out successfully as Jay was able to knock out Keifer, showing that she had learned some moves. However, Yuri was upset to see them together.
Ang Mutya ng Section E Book 2: The Dark Side episode 2 recap: Jay-jay learns self-defence
Ang Mutya ng Section E Book 2: The Dark Side episode 2 begins with Jay-jay learning self-defence from her classmates. They have been worried about her since the last attack, and considering Jay's fear of blood, they have to show her ways to knock down her rivals.
As the episode continues, Keifer and Jay take center stage, and the boys cheer for Jay to defeat her rival. And to everyone's surprise, Jay wins the fight, which also brings her a little closer to Keifer.
Later, Jay-jay and Mayo fight over a discussion inside the class, and Jay continues to tease him until Keifer stops him. And just when Jay starts cursing, Keifer reminds her of the profanity and kisses Jay in front of everyone.
Ang Mutya ng Section E Book 2:The Dark Side episode 2: The Dark Side episode 2: Yuri admits he's jealous to see Jay-Jay with Keifer
After witnessing Keifer and Jay's kiss, Yuri decides to be honest. He explains to Jay-jay that he's jealous of Keifer getting close to her, despite knowing that she's engaged. This also makes Jay feel a little embarrassed, so she comforts Yuri.
He openly admits that he has fallen for her and says he struggles to keep his emotions in check. Before walking away, Yuri gently kisses Jay-Jay on the cheek, letting her know that he truly cares about her and is willing to wait for her, no matter how long she needs.
Ang Mutya ng Section E Book 2: The Dark Side episode 2: The Dark Side episode 2: Keifer warns Jay for getting close to Yuri
One of the most shocking moments in Ang Mutya ng Section E Book 2: The Dark Side episode 2 comes when Keifer unleashes his possessive side. He saw Yuri getting close to Jay and told her to stay away from him. He said:
"I told you, you're mine. Let Yuri do that to you one more time, you'll pay for it."
Jay finds it hard not to think about what just happened and even asks Ci-N about Keifer's anger. Ci-N compares the two boys of Section E and tells Jay to never date Yuri, as he's a coward, and he even makes moves without telling his friends.
He even planned the engagement and kept Jay in the dark. And now, Yuri wants Jay to focus only him him, despite knowing that she's not into him.
Mayo misunderstands Jay-Jay after seeing her with Kit
By the end of Ang Mutya ng Section E Book 2: The Dark Side episode 2, Jay meets Kit at the school's rooftop, where he opens up about his rocky relationship with Mayo. Kit explains that Mayo has been ice to him, but the two often face problems.
Kit doesn't want to let down his family, and at the same time, he cannot ignore how he feels about Mayo. And as the two talk, Kit jokes with Jay about getting close, and Mayo completely misunderstands the situation.
He believes that Kit was being weird to him because of Jay-Jay, and then calls her the second Ella of Section E. Though it hurts, Jay tries to epxlain. Edrix also arrives and warns Jay about Keife'r's anger.
Frustrated with the boys, Jay punches Mayo. In the end, Mayo finally realizes that he was wrong. He even tells Jay to choose Yuri over Keifer, while Ci-N tells her never to let Yuri court her. The episode ends with Jay-Jay confused about her feelings for the two boys.
