Another Netflix Marvel actor is teasing a return in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2

The theory that Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is a secret reunion of The Defenders just gained another credibility. Mike Colter, the actor who played Power Man/Luke Cage on the Netflix series Luke Cage and The Defenders, is hinting at his return in Born Again Season 2. If you remember, a few months ago, Krysten Ritter, who plays Jessica Jones, also hinted at her Marvel return through her Instagram stories.

Mike Colter did something similar when, a few days ago, he posted a Luke Cage artwork on his Instagram stories. As soon as the actor did that, the Marvel fandom online was rife with speculations that, like Ritter, Colter is also returning as Cage in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2.

Does Mike Colter's Instagram stories post hint that he is returning in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2?

On the surface level, Mike Colter seems to be taking a page right off Krysten Ritter's playbook to hint at his Marvel return through Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. She, too, continuously posted images on Instagram stories hinting at a return. Thus, Ritter was officially confirmed to return as Jessica Jones during Disney's Upfront event on May 13, 2025.

Krysten Ritter was on stage with Charlie Cox when her return was confirmed in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. Ritter said this on the stage:

“It’s so great to be back, returning to Jessica after three seasons and ‘The Defenders’ and now joining the MCU. I’m so excited to bring back this iconic character, and without giving too much away, there is much more in store for Jessica Jones. This is going to be an incredible season!”

To be fair, even Mike Colter expressed hope for returning as Luke Cage in the MCU. Here is what the actor said during his August 2024 Comicbook.com interview:

“I would love to explore it, if they found some story, some way, somewhere, to take it. And I’m happy that Charlie Cox and those are getting it rebooted, but I don’t have any [idea if Luke Cage is getting rebooted]. I’m not holding anything back.”

Therefore, these comments and posts on Instagram stories have the online Marvel fandom theorizing that Mike Colter is indeed returning in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. Moreover, even Marvel Studios' head of streaming, television, and animation, Brad Winderbaum, also hinted that the studio was brainstorming ways to bring back the Defenders in the MCU in an Entertainment Weekly interview from February 2025:

“I can't say much, but I'll tell you that it's so exciting to be able to play in that sandbox. Obviously we don't have the unlimited storytelling resources like a comic book. If you can draw it, you can do it. It's dealing with actors and time and the massive scale of production in order to build a cinematic universe, especially on television. But I can just say that all those variables taken into account, it is certainly something that is creatively extremely exciting and that we are very much exploring."

What would Luke Cage's potential Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 mean?

If Colter does indeed return in Born Again Season 2, then it would mean that we are one step closer to The Defenders reunion. Kristen Ritter's only made Luke Cage and Danny Rand's return a possibility.
