The tense, high-octane thriller from Apple TV is finally returning with Hijack Season 2, and the streamer has released a trailer for the latest season, taking us right back into another hijacked public transit with Elba's Sam Nelson. The first season found Nelson on a hijacked flight from Dubai to London.

This time around, 30,000 feet in the air has transformed into an underground mode of transit as a subway train in Berlin, with Nelson and more than 200 people inside, is hijacked. Season 2 is set to premiere on January 14, 2026. The premiere will be followed by a weekly episode rollout on Apple TV until March 4, 2026, when the finale airs.

Hijack Season 2 drops a thrilling trailer starring Idris Elba on a hijacked subway

Idris Elba's Sam Nelson is a lawyer who specializes in corporate negotiations and somehow finds himself in high-stakes hostage situations every time on Apple TV's Hijack. Such is the case for Hijack Season 2, but this time around, he is not 30,000 feet up in the air on a commercial flight, but underground in a subway in Dublin.

The official trailer from Apple TV finds Nelson relaying the danger:

"This train has been hijacked. Okay, there are over 200 passengers. And if you do not do exactly what they say...then we will all die."

When Hijack first premiered on Apple TV in 2023, it quickly found itself on Nielsen's top 10 streaming chart owing to the adrenaline-filled season. Season 2 is taking us right back into a pressure cooker of a situation, which could at any given time turn into a mass casualty disaster.

The official synopsis from Apple TV reads:

"In the thrilling second season of “Hijack,” a Berlin underground train and its commuters are taken hostage, while, above ground, authorities scramble to save hundreds of lives. Sam Nelson (Elba) is at the heart of the crisis on board, where one wrong decision could spell disaster."

The trailer released by Apple TV finds us right in the middle of the action and has us questioning if Nelson's presence on the hostage subway is more than just a coincidence. The audience, along with the investigators, finds itself questioning Nelson's involvement in the situation and whether it is more than what it appears to be from the outside.

Along with Idris Elba, Max Beesley, Christine Adams, and Archie Panjabi are also returning for the second season. Joining them are Clare-Hope Ashitey, Christian Näthe, Toby Jones, Lisa Vicari, and Karima McAdams. The stakes are higher than ever, but Elba's Nelson is equally prepared to battle those odds in Hijack Season 2:

"This is a game of poker. You don't have to have the best hand to win, you just have to have the best bluff."

Hijack Season 2, produced by 60Forty Films and Idiotlamp Productions with Field Smith as the lead director, returns on January 14, 2026.
