More about Apple TV+’s Prodigies
The seven-episode series, which also features Ayo Edebiri, was written and directed by Will Sharpe. SISTER, an award-winning production company known for producing top-notch narrative television, is working on the project.
Andrene Ward-Hammond, Nabhaan Rizwan, Meera Syal, Lolly Adefope, Sophia Di Martino, Yumi Asō, Reece Shearsmith, and Tobias Menzies are now part of the cast. These actors have contributed to a wide range of projects, including comedies and dramas. They will include previously announced cast members, such as actress and pop sensation Rina Sawayama, who will portray Ren's sister Hana.
The core of Prodigies is the relationship between Ren and Didi, two former child geniuses. Now in their early thirties, the pair has been together since childhood and leads a life that feels far more natural than what was once expected of them. As time goes on, they start to doubt their life's direction and if their committed partnership is still suitable for the people they are becoming.
The show approaches romantic stories in a novel way. It explores what happens long after a relationship starts, rather than how people fall in love. It examines how people evolve over time, how early promise can turn into a silent burden, and how the difficulties of adulthood impact both individual identity and social cohesion. Designed to appeal to viewers who enjoy stories based on genuine emotions, it combines emotional reflection with enjoyment.
They are joined by executive producers Jane Featherstone, Naomi de Pear, and Katie Carpenter. Each of whom has a proven track record of producing engaging and award-winning television.
Apple TV+'s expansion into original storytelling continues with this new series, and with shows like Ted Lasso, Severance, and The Morning Show, the platform has earned a reputation for producing intelligent, high-quality programming. Prodigies, a clever, character-driven comedy that delivers both entertainment and depth, is expected to join this lineup.
Prodigies has yet to be given an official release date, and when the show premieres, it will be exclusively available on Apple TV+ in over 100 countries and regions.
