Castle Rock, originally released back in 2018, is based on the thriller authored by Stephen King by the same name. The first season of the show was released back in 2018, and Season 2 was released the very next year, in October 2019.
While both seasons have received very positive responses from fans, there is one very common question that has not been very frequently addressed about the series: Are both seasons connected?
Series co-creator Dustin Thomason recently addressed this question during the recently held New York Comic-Con, and he confirmed that both seasons have some very minor connections with each other.
How are the Castle Rock seasons connected?
Co-creator Dustin Thomason was recently asked at the New York Comic-Con about the connection between both seasons of Castle Rock, and he confirmed that the seasons have a very subtle connection with each other, like sharing the same setting.
However, he confirmed that while the first three episodes of Season 2 don't share too much of a connection, the later episodes begin to show a connection in what the creator called a strand method. Through this, there would be some questions that would arise in people's minds that would not be answered immediately.
Instead, the questions would be answered slowly as the season progresses.
"Part of what we were excited by was the idea of introducing strands. Maybe not always answering every question right away, but ultimately circling back in unexpected ways and hopefully broadening the universe over many seasons. "

Season 2 of the show also sees a lot of returning characters, such as Pastor Drew, who is played by Aaron Stanton. Fans also see the return of Castle Rock's infamous crime family, the Merrill family, introducing more characters from the family into the show.
Speaking about the connections between both seasons, Thomason revealed that the way of creating the connection through setting instead of major plot points was inspired by Stephen King himself, where the stories often take place in the same town but have completely different plot points.
This same thing can be observed in Castle Rock, where both seasons take place in the same town, but the stories are completely different. However, there will be some crossovers seen, where some characters from Season 1 will appear in the second season as well.
Castle Rock is available to stream on Prime Video.
