Did Peacemaker Season 2 hint at Leota Adebayo and Keeya no longer being a couple? Speculations explored

The first episode of Peacemaker Season 2 is out, and a question that has become quite prevalent is about the relationship status of Leota Adebayo and Keeya.

Before the release of Peacemaker Season 2, the final episode of the first season gave Keeya and Leota a happy ending. We saw that Leota arrives at Keeya’s door after the mission, and they embrace each other, finally happy about the fact that the danger is over. Fans heaved a sigh of relief at their happy reunion after witnessing the couple go through a rough patch in season 1 after Leota took up a new job.

However, in Peacemaker Season 2, the relationship between the two of them seems to have taken quite a turn. This can be seen in the very first moments of the first episode, which was released on August 21, 2025.

Are Leota Adebayo and Keeya no longer a couple in Peacemaker Season 2?

The first episode of Peacemaker Season 2 showed that Leota and Keeya are going through a rough patch. Leota's words also hint that the couple might not be together anymore.

While Leota is taking Peacemaker for his interview with Justice League, Peacemaker asks Leota whether Keeya called her back. On hearing his question, Leota shakes her head with a sigh, indicating that Keeya did not call her back. She says,

“Girl can’t deal with me being me. That’s her problem. I mean, I’m about hardcore sh*t now. That’s what I do. Her not being able to accept that is like her not being able to accept me, right?”

Through her words, the reason for their separation can be understood. It cannot be denied that from the very first season, Keeya and Leota had trouble with the dangers of the mission. Though it seems like Leota tried to contact Keeya, she did not get any response from her. In another scene, Leota tells John Economos that Keeya kicked her out.

Though this is just the first episode of the series with many more to come, as of now, their relationship is seemingly going through a break. Whether in the upcoming episodes, we will be able to see Keeya and Leota back together is yet to be revealed. However, through the strained relationship, we can see a subtle character development in Leota.

Leota grapples with the difficult situation of not being with her wife with strength. In her conversation with John Economos, we see that despite John criticising her living situation, Leota is not discouraged.

Even though only one episode of Peacemaker Season 2 has been released, the storyline of this season is truly captivating. Especially, seeing Leota Adebayo’s personal growth. In an interview with ComicBook, Danielle Brooks, who plays the character, spoke about her character’s growth,

“She wasn’t as sure of herself. We watch her…say in the beginning [of Season 1], ‘I’m not made for this s***.’ And then she turns around, a few episodes later, when it’s time to really get down to business, and she says, ‘You know what? I actually am made for this s***.’”

Leota has now become quite confident about herself and her abilities. She even reassures Peacemaker that, despite the dangers, they would come through. As Danielle Brooks also said,

“She wants to live for herself and not for her mom or her wife, and so we’re going to watch her navigate that this season.”
