Loren Bouchard, the creator behind Fox's hit animated sitcom Bob's Burgers, is talking about how long the show will run on the network following its 300th episode, premiering on September 28th.

The TV-PG-rated show has been a staple for many viewers. Its plot followed a regular, working-class family, trying their best to run a restaurant. Despite their ambitions, the show wasn't strictly about whether they fail or succeed. Instead, it was about the heart and humor of everyday quirky moments in their lives.

That's why it earned a dedicated fanbase over the years from people who can't get enough of their charming repertoire. With the 16th season premiere, dubbed "Grand Pre-Pre-Pre-Opening," it achieves a huge milestone, since it marks the 300th episode in the show's 14-year run. So, showrunner Loren Bouchard shared how long the show will run after this.

He told Variety,

“We’ll keep making the show as long as people want to see it and as long as we have stories to tell. In some ways, we’re just getting started.”

Bob's Burgers creator reveals why his feel-good show resonates with viewers

Bob's Burgers follows the Belcher family as they try to run a restaurant, but Loren Bouchard and his team of writers and creatives turned it into more than just a fun-fest. They ensure that the show remains hopeful, no matter what circumstances the Belchers face. Bouchard reflected on this core theme of his show during his conversation with Variety.

Here's what he said:

“It’s a hopeful show about a working-class family with this irrational, creative, barely profitable dream at the heart of it - the restaurant. And because they never age, we’ll never know if they’ll succeed or they’ll fail, but we feel their drive and their fundamental optimism, and that’s probably valuable to some folks."

He also spoke about the power of optimism, whether in life or storytelling:

"Optimism is an underrated and complicated thing. Cynics can dismiss it, but that’s because when it’s done poorly in entertainment, it plays like schmaltz. ‘Bob’s’ is about a grittier, deeper hope and how it works for you even in hard times.”

There's another reason why this feel-good show appeals to many viewers: they resonate with its characters and their fighting spirit despite the hardships. Yet, there are so many characters in the show that fans may resonate with more than one of them. Speaking about the show's character-driven nature, Bouchard said,

“In the end, if you’re making character-driven comedy, then you have to give credit to the characters for any success you might achieve. People have to want to spend time with them.”

In line with this, Bouchard revealed which character resonates with him the most:

“[It] changes every day, and just when I think I’m relating to one, I’ll notice I’m actually acting like another.”

After the 16th season, Bob's Burgers is coming back for three more seasons, according to an April 2025 report from Deadline. So, Bouchard reflected on the show's long run, saying:

“I mean, a boy can dream, right? We didn’t dare ‘think’ it would last this long, but had hope for sure. I know the network and the studio did too. That was the gig, right? See if you can make a show to come on after ‘The Simpsons.’”

Bob's Burgers returns with its season 16 on September 28, 2025.
