Netflix's upcoming crime drama Bad Influencer will premiere this October.
The South African series by Kudi Maradzika has recently become a topic of discussion. The story revolves around a single woman who is forced to team up with an influencer dealing in luxury items and finds her life turned upside down by the police as well as the underworld.
The Lincoln Green Media and Gambit Films production will feature an ensemble cast led by Jo-Anne Reyneke and Cindy Mahlangu, who play the protagonists. The official synopsis of Bad Influencer reads:
"A single mother - and luxury bag counterfeiter - finds herself teaming up with a self-obsessed influencer to sell her bags and scrape her way out of debt."
When will Bad Influencer be released?
Bad Influencer will have an exclusive premiere on Netflix on October 31 with episodes airing together. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kudi Maradzika has executively produced the upcoming crime drama alongside Ngoasheng Dumisa, Benjamin Overmeyer, Travis Taute, Bradley Joshua, Daryne Joshua and Simon Beesley.
What do we know about the plot of Bad Influencer?
Bad Influencer is the perfect crime drama binge material to set the weekend up. The plot centers on a single mother named BK (portrayed by Jo-Anne Reyneke), also a con artist on a small scale, who finds herself stuck in the vicious cycle of debt. With her back against the wall, BK resorts to illegal ways of earning more money and that is when she comes across Pinky, a young influencer (played by Cindy Mahlangu).
Pinky deals in luxury bags and BK finds the perfect opportunity for a collaboration. The two women start working together as a team while selling "fake luxury handbags online". However, things go awry when an infamous criminal from a counterfeiting racket, Bra Alex (played by Vincent Mahlape), finds out about their business and intervenes to have a piece of cake for himself.
The duo thus gets involved in the nuances of the underworld to keep themselves safe. But it also puts them under the radar of the police and eventually leads to chaos. Bad Influencer is a story of survival with a substantial amount of action that a crime thriller demands.
