Bad Monkey Season 2 casts Yvonne Strahovski in a brand new role

Yvonne Strahovski has landed a new role in Apple TV+'s comedy-drama, Bad Monkey, as a series regular, starring alongside Vince Vaughn, Michelle Monaghan, and Natalie Martinez.

Strahovski most recently starred in The Handmaid's Tale, an adaptation of Margaret Atwood's dystopian novel series, which wrapped its final season in May 2025. She played Serena Joy Waterford, and her performance earned her two Emmy nominations, four SAG nominations, a Golden Globe nomination, and a Critics' Choice Award nomination.

Shortly after the concluding chapter of this Hulu series, Strahovski joins the cast of the Apple Studios dramedy, which is based on Carl Hiaasen’s New York Times bestselling eponymous novel. She is the latest star to be announced as a series regular in the show after John Ortiz, who previously played a guest role, and John Malkovich, who joins the show in its second season.

The show's official plot synopsis read:

“Bad Monkey” tells the story of Andrew Yancy (Vaughn), who has been bounced from the Miami Police Department and is now a health inspector in the Keys."

"But after stumbling upon a case that begins with a human arm fished up by tourists, he realizes that if he can prove murder, he’ll be back in. He just needs to get past a trove of Floridian oddballs and one bad monkey."

Australian actress Yvonne Strahovski has been actively working in film and television for the past two decades. Her performance in The Handmaid's Tale earned her critical acclaim, but she has been working on similarly acclaimed projects for a while.

The actress also starred in Dexter as Hannah McKay, Chuck as Sarah Walker, Maggie Chenoweth in Teacup, 24: Live Another Day as Kate Morgan, and The Astronaut Wives Club as Rene Carpenter. Her notable film credits include The Tomorrow War (2021), Manhattan Night (2016), Angel of Mine (2019), All I See Is You (2016), and Scrambled (2023).

Strahovski is the latest to join the cast of the show created by the Shrinking showrunner, Bill Lawrence, who finds a balance between humor and thrill in this crime drama series. It centers around Andrew Yancy, played by Vince Vaughn, whose search for a bad monkey after discovering a human arm leads him down a rabbit hole, seemingly with no way out.

Besides Natalie Martinez as Dr. Rosa Campesino and Michelle Monaghan as Bonnie Witt, here's the rest of the cast who appeared in this show:

Other than them, stars like Charlotte Lawrence, Zach Braff, Scott Glenn, and Ashley Nicole Black joined in the guest roles.

The second season of Bad Monkey has yet to receive an official premiere date.
