Ari Graynor as Meredith Davis

As mentioned, Ari Graynor plays the lead role as Meredith, portraying the wife of a wealthy man being divorced and left penniless. She ends up taking up a teaching job at Richard Nixon Middle School by faking her resume to again impress another rich man and a single dad who is also the school principal.

Meredith is shown as a flashy woman with no ethics or inner conscience. She is more interested in charming her way to these rich men than in teaching. Despite her selfish drive, she shows some glimpses of warmth and that she does care deep down somewhere.

As for Ari Graynor, the actress is known for sharing credits in For a Good Time, Call…, The Sitter, and even The Sopranos, before appearing on Bad Teacher.

David Alan Grier as Carl Gaines

The Richard Nixon teacher, who becomes another reason to join the school for Meredith, is played by David Alan Grier. Carl is the recently divorced principal of the School who hires Meredith, believing in her skills and wrong credentials. He shares some zeal for education but is guillible at the time, while Meredith's bonding and manipulation over shared marital woes makes him trust her more.

In Bad Teacher, Carl is portrayed as someone who wants to be progressive, but is pulled back when Meredith's scheme at the school backfires. Therefore, we can say that sometimes Carl finds Meredith Admirable, other times suspicious, and even conflicting.

Kristin Davis as Ginny Taylor-Clapp

Ginny is a teacher Meredith meets at school. She is a perfectionist and the president of the faculty. She becomes the only one who immediately distrusts Meredith. She sees through her fake resumes and other flirtations with students and teaching faculty. She becomes a major conflict for Meredith to prove herself in the school.

Joel is the gym teacher in school. He shares some history with Meredith, being his former high school acquaintance. He is the one who questions her moves but is indeed drawn to her while portraying himself as the most "handsome teacher" among all of them. Even Meredith flirts with him to keep his mouth shut.

Ryan Hansen has played some comedic roles as well on TV, and along with that, he shared credits in Veronica Mars, Party Down, 2 Broke Girls, and various comedic roles on TV.

Sara Gilbert as Irene (Dudek)

In this middle school environment, while one becomes Meredith's rival, one is simply bound by her charm; there needs to be a genuine ally of the character as well. Irene is that person in the narrative. She is a shy and socially awkward English teacher. Portrayed as naive to fully understand Meredith, she starts to get some more attention while being on her side. Moreover, Irene also finds Meredith to be someone exciting and different from her.
