Martin's secret comes to light, putting him in a dilemma in Best Medicine Episode 1

This episode of Best Medicine starts with Martin visiting a gas station to get coffee, where he comes across Louisa Glasson. Seeing that everyone at the coffee shop begins to worry about Louisa, Martin gets intrigued. However, watching Martin stare at her, Louisa gets angry and leaves the shop.

He then goes to the town’s local medical practice for his interview, where the interviewers are completely astonished by his stellar resume. Louisa is also part of the panel of interviewers. She asks him about his decision to move from Boston. Instead of giving a clear answer, Martin explains that the time he spent in this town growing up was a significant reason for this move.

He is selected for the position of a doctor at the medical practice. As this episode of Best Medicine continues, Martin visits Salty Breeze to get the keys to his office. There, he meets Greg. He also comes across George, who is also part of the Salty Breeze. Right at that moment, Sheriff Mark arrives.

Greg then tells Martin about Louisa and Mark’s situation. They were engaged to marry, but two weeks before the marriage, Louisa refused to marry him. Though Greg and George worry about Mark’s well-being, Mark appears to be content with the situation. He even wants to have the party at the venue on the same day.

As this episode of Best Medicine continues, Martin visits the clinic, and he finds Elaine. Before Martin could unpack and settle down, a patient arrived. This patient, Gilbert, arrived with a condition of gynecomastia. He asks Gilbert to get a blood test. Gilbert then asks Martin to do the blood test right then; however, he refuses to do so, causing Gilbert to walk away.

He then continues to ask Elaine to write the requirements for the clinic. While grocery shopping, he comes across a patient who shows him her son’s injury. Seeing the blood, Martin begins to panic and even loses consciousness. Another patient, Susan, comes across to tell him to get her estrogen gel delivered quickly. Hearing this, Martin understands that the gel might be causing her husband, Gilbert’s, condition.

He eventually reveals the truth to Gilbert and Susan about the situation, telling them to discuss it further. After returning to the clinic, he finds a young patient waiting for him. This patient also comes with Gilbert’s condition of gynecomastia. Martin begins to think about whether his diagnosis of the estrogen gel causing the condition is incorrect.

In this episode of Best Medicine, while grocery shopping in the morning to avoid the crowd, Martin comes across Louisa. She tells him about her decision to end the relationship with Mark, which causes Martin to get uncomfortable. Right then, he sees Susan cheating on Gilbert with the young patient he had earlier. Susan thinks Martin was actually spying on her and then slaps her.

Completely disappointed by the situation, he decides to leave the town. On his way to return, he meets her aunt and tells her the truth about how he froze at the operating table. Sarah then assures that it might be because the patient was just eight years old. At the end of this episode in Best Medicine, he gets called to visit an emergency patient at the Salty Breeze.

However, an altercation between Gilbert and the young man causes Martin to get punched. The blood makes him nauseous, which makes him run away to the bathroom. Elaine comes to his rescue and comforts him through the situation. Elaine tells him that she can take the blood from the patients and even bandage wounds to help him.
