Based on the Japanese manga Kakegurui and brought to life by Warrior Nun creator Simon Barry, Bet joins Netflix’s growing slate of edgy live-action adaptations. Set in the elite halls of St. Dominic’s Academy, the series follows the enigmatic Yumeko, a mysterious transfer student whose extraordinary gambling abilities turn the school’s rigid hierarchy on its head.
But beneath her composed exterior lies a deeper, darker mission. As the episodes unfold, viewers discover that Yumeko has come to St. Dominic’s not just to gamble, but to exact a chilling revenge. Whether she succeeds in uncovering the truth and fulfilling her vengeful plan becomes the driving force of the series.
While the suspense-filled plot keeps viewers hooked, another standout aspect of Bet is its talented cast. Let’s take a closer look at the key actors bringing this high-stakes drama to life—and where you might have seen them before.
Bet cast and character guide
Miku Martineau as Yumeko
Yumeko Jabami is the protagonist of Bet and is played by Miku Martineau. She is shown to be a teenager who is obsessed with gambling, and her skills surprise the students of St. Dominic’s, as she starts winning against the members of the student council and shakes up the hierarchy that has been established in the school.
It is gradually revealed that Yumeko has joined St. Dominic’s to avenge her parents, as she knows that it was people from the school who were behind their murder.
Miku Martineau is a Canadian-Japanese actor/singer, and she has previously been part of projects like Star Trek: Section 31, Honor Society, Kate, etc. Bet marks Miku’s first role as a lead.
Anwen O’Driscoll as Riri
Riri is Arkadi Timurov, a business tycoon and a criminal’s younger daughter in Bet. Played by Anwen O’Driscoll, Riri is the half-sister of Kira, and with her minimal dialogue and conflicted personality, she has left a mark on the story.
She is loyal to Kira and speaks very little while wearing a mask and conveying most of her emotions and feelings through her eyes, a trait that makes the character even more interesting.
Anwen O’Driscoll has previously acted in October Faction, This Time, You Can Live Forever, etc.
Clara Alexandrova as Kira
Played by Clara Alexandrova, Kira is Arkadi Timurov’s eldest daughter and the president of St. Dominic’s student council in Bet. She shares a number of character traits with her father, and unfortunately, none of them are positive.
Like Arkadi, Kira is also a megalomaniac and believes in exploiting people to get her own work done. She is ambitious and power hungry, and between her and her younger sister Riri, she is shown to be seeking validation a lot more than her, which fuels her actions and decisions throughout the show.
Clara Alexandrova has previously been seen in Danger in the Dorm, A Million Little Things, Alert: Missing Persons Unit, etc.
Aviva Mongillo as Dori
Aviva Mongillo plays Dori in Bet, a character who is impulsive and nerdy and does not have any idea about social connections. While she comes from a privileged background, her lack of social skills turns her into a stalker, and given her troubled relationship with her father, her character embodies all the negative qualities a teenager with lots of money and zero moral compass can have.
Aviva Mongillo has previously been part of projects like Workin' Moms, Backstage, etc.
