Squid Game actor Lee Jin-wook's legal K-drama, Beyond the Bar (also known as Esquire), has finally arrived. As its name suggests, the story goes beyond just courtroom battles and also focuses on the complex realities of life.

The premiere introduces viewers to Yullim Law Firm, a prestigious company where two very different lawyers are forced to work together. On one side is Yoon Seok-hun, a senior partner known for his brilliance and strict attitude.

On the other side is Kang Hyo-min, a newcomer who may be awkward socially, but she's confident, idealistic, and full of heart. Even her hiring was quite interesting, as Hyo-min was first asked to leave the interview for being late, but she eventually got the job.

After watching two episodes, fans must be wondering about the next chapters. Beyond the Bar Episode 3 will arrive on Saturday, August 9, followed by Episode 4 on Sunday, August 10, 2025.

The K-drama is available for local fans on the JTBC channel and Netflix for international viewers. In the story so far, Hyo-min is trying to adapt to the firm's culture while also facing the tough Seok-hun.

A silent war between newcomer Kang Hyo-min and experienced attorney Yoon Seok-hun has begun in the new legal K-drama, Beyond the Bar. Their relationship doesn’t follow the usual mentor-student path as the two have very different perceptions of how work is done at a law firm.

The first two episodes kept viewers hooked, and if you're eagerly waiting for more, here's the good news: the next batch is just around the corner. Episodes 3 and 4 of Beyond the Bar will air on Saturday, August 9, and Sunday, August 10, 2025, at 10:40 PM KST. So mark your calendars for the weekend.

As for streaming options, fans will have to tune in to Netflix, where the K-drama is available for both local and international viewers. Since Netflix does not offer a free trial, a subscription plan is required to enjoy the drama and all TV series and movies on the platform.

What happened in Beyond the Bar Episodes 1-2: A quick recap

Beyond the Bar Episode 1, titled Induction, starts with Kang Hyo-min, a rookie lawyer, showing up late to her interview at Yullim Law Firm. Senior partner Yoon Seok-hun quickly writes her off. But her smart thinking earns her another shot. She stirs things up by picking the litigation team, Seok-hun’s turf.

Her first case involves a gas company with strange revenue drops. Hyo-min skips work to dig into the issue herself. She uncovers a massive gas theft worth billions. Seok-hun praises the result but warns her about breaking rules.

Episode 2, titled Hot Water Is the Test for Tea and Love, brings an emotional lawsuit against a fertility clinic. A man named Gi-beom lashes out after losing his last chance at fatherhood. Hyo-min takes the case, only to find her boyfriend is defending the clinic. Tension rises as personal and legal lines blur.

Things get worse when he reacts coldly to her sharing about her hearing-impaired twin. Meanwhile, Seok-hun pressures the rival firm with a risky bluff. Hyo-min is unsure, but the client’s heartfelt testimony wins the case. A private settlement is finally reached.

Seok-hun and Hyo-min, though still very different, manage to work well together. He begins to respect her instincts and passion. The win marks a shift in their rocky relationship. Trust starts to form, slowly but surely.


What to expect from Beyond the Bar Episodes 3-4?

In the next episode, a mother files a civil and criminal lawsuit against a delivery company and driver, who almost hit her child with a truck. As the case begins, the lawyers find out that the child has constantly faced collisions, suggesting he might have some health issues.

The mother also shows up at the court, where Seok-hun presents his views and analysis. Since Hyo-min is also present, she tells Seok-hun that he acted as if he wanted to hurt the mother. She says that "truth can be poison if it's used like one," to which Seok-hun advises her to be careful with her words.
