BBC drama Beyond Paradise has been renewed for a fourth season officially.

Red Planet Pictures announced the news on July 29, 2025, as filming had already started. The production firm revealed that cast and crew started filming fresh episodes in July, with scenes being shot at different areas of Cornwall.

The new season is a continuation of the story within the fictional Devon town of Shipton Abbott. Though the BBC has not announced a specific release date, the series is rumored to be back on air in early 2026.

The new season will return with old characters and further develop open storylines from season 3. The production is reported to continue until November 2025, and there are promises of returning main cast members. Although information is scarce, early production work and shooting schedules indicate consistency in tone, setting, and character development.

Background of Beyond Paradise

Beyond Paradise debuted in 2023 as a spin-off of Death in Paradise. The series follows Detective Inspector Humphrey Goodman, Kris Marshall, as he moves to Shipton Abbott in Devon. Goodman departs Saint Marie to start a life with his partner, Martha Lloyd, and Sally Bretton.

Located in a more subdued English seaside town, the series addresses local offenses, family difficulties, and interpersonal relationships. Its central plotlines strike a balance between intrigue and the daily lives of its leading characters, especially Goodman's attempts to fit into his new community and job.

Confirmation and production details

Red Planet Pictures announced the renewal of the show on July 29, 2025. Production for season 4 commenced on July 21 under the banner of Fiona Walton. Behind-the-scenes photos released via official sources indicate production activity in Looe and other places across Cornwall.

Local media and neighborhood notices confirm that production will resume in November. Some of the places where filming is set to go on include St Mellion Golf Course and university campuses in Plymouth. Production notices have been spotted at various locations, displaying a determination towards more regional filming.

Cast and key roles

Kris Marshall again plays DI Humphrey Goodman. Sally Bretton again appears as Martha Lloyd. Other cast members that have been confirmed are Zahra Ahmadi as DS Esther Williams, Dylan Llewellyn as PC Kelby Hartford, and Felicity Montagu as Margo Martins. Barbara Flynn will also return.

Although the complete cast list has not been announced publicly, reports indicate that all main characters will stay on. There could be guest appearances and additional characters added along the way in future production.

Expectations for Beyond Paradise Season 4 storylines

Season 3 ended with Goodman and Martha having to leave their foster child, Rosie. This plot thread is still left open and could have an impact on character choices in the upcoming season.

DS Esther Williams' private life also came under scrutiny, such as in a scene involving Martha's former partner, Archie Hughes. These storylines are most likely to carry over to season 4. The show will also have new criminal investigations by the Shipton Abbott police squad, upholding the mystery format of the program.

Filming locations

The filming occurs mainly in Cornwall, which stands in for the fictional Shipton Abbott town. Locations involve seaside villages, rural interiors, and chosen Plymouth buildings.

The South West Police Headquarters continues to be represented by the University of Plymouth. Other regular locations from past seasons are also likely to come back.

Release date and broadcasting

The BBC has not provided a specific release date for Beyond Paradise Season 4. Yet, early 2026 is estimated, looking at filming schedules and previous release histories.

Like in previous seasons, a Christmas special could be made before the entire season. The holiday specials have been the norm since the show premiered. In the UK, the show is broadcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, before going international on BritBox.

Viewer reception and the future

Beyond Paradise has long attracted good viewership. The opening episode was watched by over five million viewers, helping it secure a second season.

TV Zone UK says that the show's reception was among the most important considerations for the production of another season. The Paraverse, which includes Death in Paradise and Return to Paradise, is still going strong with several titles currently in production.

Season 4 of Beyond Paradise is officially underway, with new episodes set for early 2026. Fans can expect further character development and investigations in Shipton Abbott.
