What happened in Billy the Kid Season 3 Episode 5?

In Episode 5 of Billy the Kid Season 3, Billy was sentenced to death in court and was caged by Sheriff Garrett. As he went to collect Billy's death certificate, the criminal began planning his escape. While Olinger hated Billy, the other detective, James, was friendly toward him. He brought food for Billy and also played cards with him, giving Billy the perfect opportunity to manipulate James.

He asked to go to the bathroom and acquired James' gun. He then threatened James to follow his instructions, as he did not want to kill a good man. But James' failure to listen to him cost him his life as Billy shot him dead. He also killed Olinger before escaping with the help of a local.

While he went to meet his family and Dulcinea, Garrett also reached the place looking for the criminal. None of Billy's allies revealed his location, angering Garrett, who also slapped Dulcinea for it. He then went o Pete's house as he knew Billy was his friend. At the first visit, he did not find Bily there.

His surprising next visit turned fatal for Billy as Garrett immediately spotted him in Pete's house. He was then gunned down by Garrett, leaving his fate hanging. Furthermore, Jesse and the Regulators were also let go from New Mexico, as there was no arrest warrant for them. Except for Jesse, all the regulators are on their journey back to Lincoln, which might be helpful for Billy in the coming episodes.
