Black Doves Season 2 cast and character guide: Every returning star and new appearances confirmed so far

The spy thriller took over Netflix last Christmas, and owing to the early renewal, Black Doves Season 2 is now on the horizon. The Christmas thriller had Netflix convinced of his success, and it was renewed for its sophomore season even before the first season's premiere.

Netflix recently announced in November 2025 that Season 2 was officially starting production and also revealed some cast additions to the second season's ensemble.

So, here's a look at the confirmed cast list for Black Doves Season 2, from the returning ensemble to the new additions.

Black Doves Season 2 cast: Every new and returning star in the Netflix thriller

The Kiera Knightley-led ensemble is set to return for another season of espionage, and according to creator Joe Barton, there is a chance that the season might not even be set at Christmas this time around. He said to Variety:

"It’s all about when it would be released. It doesn’t need to be constrained by the Christmas holiday. So it might be that there’s a different [holiday]—Easter maybe?"

So, even though Black Doves Season 2 might not be returning this Christmas, most of the main players are set to be reprising their roles for the new season:

1: Keira Knightley as Helen

The second season finds Helen continuing to betray the nation's secrets to the Black Doves. However, the consequences of the events last season, paired with Wallace's position as Prime Minister, make the stakes higher than ever for her character.

2: Ben Whishaw as Sam

The first season featured Helen reunited with Whishaw's Sam. But the man who was once a high-end triggerman has now been reduced to a man who drinks alone at Soho bars and is only hired for low-rate hits.

3: Sara Lancashire as Reed

In the second season, Helen's handler, Mrs. Reed, finds herself swept up in a ruthless plot that has been designed to undermine her position at the covert organization, the Black Doves.

Additionally, Andrew Buchan's Wallace, Ella Lily Hyland's Williams, Gabrielle Creevy's Elanor, Kathryn Hunter's Lenny, Agnes O'Casey's Dani, and finally Molly Chesworth's Marie will also be returning for the second season.

Along with the returning cast, Netflix has also revealed some brand-new cast additions for Black Doves Season 2.

1: Ambika Mod as Laila

The One Day actor is set to take over the role of Laila in the second season. Laila is an acerbic and anarchic agent of the organization who has been set to help Helen with a mission.

2: Babou Ceesay as Mr. Conteh

Babou Ceesay, who recently appeared on Alien: Earth on FX, is set to take over the role of Mr. Conteh. Mr. Conteh is another executive of the organization, and he appears to have suspicious motivations.

3: Sam Riley as Patrick

The Firebrand actor is set to play Patrick, an emissary from another mysterious organization. Patrick offers Sam, who is struggling with his reality, a lifeline to save him from lonely drinks at Soho clubs and low-rate hits.

4: Neve Campbell as Cecile Mason

5: Sylvia Hoeks as Katia Chernov

6: Goran Kostic as Alexi Chernov

7: Samuel Barnett as Jerry
