The tumor begins to impact her life, and Mike decides to go through with a new tech to help his wife. However, to pay for the subscription, he has to join a streaming platform to raise money for the treatment.

The pressure of maintaining the subscription comes at a major cost in their relationship. As days go by, the pressure builds on Mike, and he has to see his wife suffer. Chris O'Dowd perfectly captures Mike’s emotional ups and downs. He captures Mike’s desperation.

We perfectly understand how Mike feels as he is pushed to his limits because of the treatment costs. Chris O'Dowd is also known for his performance in movies like Bridesmaids, The Sapphires, etc.

2) Rashida Jones as Amanda

What makes Rashida Jones’ performance stand out in this episode is her ability to showcase the devastating descent of Amanda’s state. Initially, Amanda and Mike had a somewhat happy life. However, after her tumor operation and the subscription to the Rivermind technologies, everything changed.

Amanda’s life begins to crumble. Rashida Jones’ range as an actor can be proven through her performance in this episode.

The flicker of fear, the sadness, and the inability to do anything about it, all these emotions are portrayed in a nuanced manner by Rashida Jones. She has also worked on the TV show The Office along with her other works.

3) Tracee Ellis Ross as Gaynor

Gaynor plays a vital role in this episode of Black Mirror. After Gaynor explains to Mike and Amanda about the tech that can help her function properly after the surgery, things begin to take a turn in their life.

Amanda begins to get interrupted by advertisements as she is subscribed to the ‘Common’ tier of the tech. For better functioning, she has to subscribe to the costlier version. However, to cope with the charges, Mike loses his job in the end. Despite their pleas, Gaynor pays no heed to their concerns.

She tells them about the costlier subscription that they need to pay if they decide to have a baby. Tracee Ellis Ross’s performance is crucial. Especially in bringing out the dark side of the dystopian storyline that Black Mirror represents.

She easily switches from a comforting nature to a cold and dismissive nature, which Gaynor shows after Mike and Amanda face issues with the tech. The chilling manner in which she portrays her character truly leaves a lasting impact.
