Blood of my Blood, a prequel series to Starz's Outlander, has finally released the show's first trailer, giving a first glimpse of the epic romance about to grace our screens this summer. The show serves as a prequel to Outlander, which is a historical fiction show based on the book series written by Diana Gabaldon.
Matthew B. Roberts will also serve as showrunner and executive producer on the prequel series like the original show. Produced by Tall Ship Productions, No Fooling Productions Inc., Story Mining & Supply Company, and Sony Pictures Television, the show will be available to stream on Starz, like all the seasons of its parent show.
Like Outlander, Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, and Jim Kohlberg will also serve as executive producers on the prequel show.
While there is no release date for the series as of now, the trailer suggests that it will be available on Starz in Summer 2025.
More on Blood of my Blood in our story below.
How is Blood of my Blood connected to Outlander?
Blood of my Blood is a prequel series to Starz's Outlander, which was announced in January 2023. The original show will conclude its Season 7, which will drop on January 17, 2025, at midnight on Starz. In addition, Outlander was already renewed for a final eighth season, which has already been shot, but there is no release date yet.
Outlander follows the story of a World War II nurse, Claire Beauchamp, who time-travels to Scotland in 1743, where she falls in love with a Highlander, James Fraser.
Blood of my Blood will be based on the love stories of Claire and Jamie's parents, meaning the show will take place in two periods.
As the trailer suggests, the prequel show will follow two love stories: Julia Moriston- Henry Beauchamp and Ellen MacKenzie- Brian Fraser.
What is the plot of Blood of my Blood?
As the trailer suggests, the show will be about the love story between Claire and Jamie's parents, who will face the many obstacles of their time periods. Outlander is known for portraying Claire and Jamie's intense love story, which is quite popular among its fans. The prequel series has two couples at the center, making the show even more interesting.
The biggest element of Outlander was the time travel aspect, which allowed Claire to meet with Jamie in the first place. It is still not clear whether the prequel show will have this element or not, but the trailer does include a ticking clock and reads "two love stories connected by time", which might hint that time travel will also be an element in the show.
While Claire used time travel to meet Jamie, it would be interesting to see how it will be used in Blood of My Blood. Recently, Roger time-traveled in Outlander Season 7, where he met Jamie's father, Brian, which hints that some of the Outlander cast might show up in the prequel series as well. The time-traveling element does make it a possibility.
