Three years after his run in Better Call Saul, actor Bob Odenkirk is finally revealing what became of his eponymous character after the series finale. The actor debuted as the corrupt lawyer Jimmy McGill/Saul Goodman in Breaking Bad, following which he led his own spin-off show for six seasons.

Odenkirk checked in with his most popular character in an interview with Comic Book Resources during the press tour of Nobody 2. He revealed what happens to Jimmy after the Better Call Saul series finale, titled Saul Gone, which saw the authorities finally catch Jimmy in 2010, following which he was sentenced to 86 years in prison.

The spin-off show is set eight years before Breaking Bad and follows the origins and evolution of Jimmy into Saul Goodman, the consigliere for Walter White and Jesse Pinkman's meth empire. However, Saul Gone flashes forward to 2010, ie, after the Breaking Bad finale, to reveal the fate of Odenkirk's character.

While it looked like the con artist had escaped yet again, he shockingly confessed to his crimes in front of Kim and set on a path of redemption.

More on Jimmy's fate in Better Call Saul in our story.

Bob Odenkirk reveals details about his Better Call Saul character after the events of the finale

In a recent interview with Comic Book Resources, Bob Odenkirk checked in with his Saul Goodman character and revealed his fate after the Better Call Saul series finale.

"He's got some he's got some power there, because he's a lawyer and he can talk to people, and he has a reputation. I think he's as doing as good as you can do in prison. Yeah. I think," said Odenkirk

The Season 6 finale featured flashbacks set during Breaking Bad in the 2010 timeline. While the Better Call Saul finale saw Jimmy completely embrace his Saul Goodman persona, these flashbacks provided clarity about his character and his definitive end in the show's universe.

After Kim left him with all the money from the Sandpiper settlement, he used it to purchase a big mansion, equipped with all the luxuries. The immoral choice Jimmy makes (of embracing the luxurious life as Saul) was a foreshadowing of his eventual volatile role in Walter White's life in Breaking Bad.

What do the black and white flashbacks mean for Saul in the Better Call Saul finale?

The Better Call Saul finale featured a series of black-and-white flashback sequences, set after the events of Breaking Bad. While Jimmy assumed a new identity of Gene Takovic, a Cinnabon manager in Omaha, after Walter White's death, his past soon catches up with him.

These slow shot sequences also gave glimpses of Kim, living in Florida under a new identity. While she believes that her husband is not capable of change, Jimmy surprises everyone in Saul Gone and confesses to all his crimes and his role in building the meth empire of Heisenberg. Saul Goodman is sentenced to 86 years in prison, but according to Odenkirk, his character still had the last laugh in the courtroom in front of Kim.

In an interview with Collider, Odenkirk discussed Saul's last scene with Kim in Better Call Saul, and how his character said a lot even in his silence:

"You doubted me. You thought I couldn’t do this. You thought I wasn’t strong enough... Watch how strong I can be. You were wrong about me. I can be stronger than anyone you’ve met.''

He added:

"I believe he fully accepted responsibility at the end in a way that he never, never, never did before.''

Even when Jimmy was sentenced to a brutal prison sentence, Odenkirk believes that his character somewhat repented for his sins and is still leading a powerful life inside, thanks to his notorious public image.
