Boots has proven to be a sleeper hit on Netflix. Despite low buzz before its release, the show has risen through the streaming charts and has become the second most-watched English-language series on Netflix in its second week of release, i.e., between October 13 and 19, 2025.

The military comedy drama premiered on Netflix on October 9 and earned 4.7 million views in the first week. In the second week, it doubled its viewership with 9.4 million views. The success of the show is attributed to its gripping narrative, which is based on a true story, and its stellar performances.

Boots follows a closeted teenager who joins the Marines at a time when queer people were not allowed to serve in the military. The series has beaten the likes of The Diplomat Season 3, which has received 4.8 million views since its premiere on October 16.

Boots received 9.4 million views in its second week

From October 13 to 19, 2025, Boots earned 9.4 million views and ranked at number 2 in the Netflix to 10 charts, second only to Monster: The Ed Gein Story, which got 9.5 million views. Number 3 on the list is The Diplomat Season 3, which opened at lower-than-expected numbers with 4.8 million views.

In comparison, the previous season of the political thriller had received 5.6 million views in the first week of its release in 2024. Considering that both Monster and The Diplomat are established franchises, Boots has certainly achieved a rare feat by being on par with the two.

The 4th and 5th rank in the list is attained by the docuseries Victoria Beckham and the mystery thriller Wayward. Victoria Beckham, which premiered on October 9, has earned 3.8 million views, while Wayward, which arrived a few weeks ago on September 25, has gotten 3.2 million views.

Boots has been receiving rave reviews from the critics ever since its premiere, which has reflected in its viewership numbers. The show has an impressive 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and is rated 8 on IMDb.

Based on former Marine Greg Cope White’s memoir, The Pink Marine, the show is set in 1990 and revolves around Cameron Cope, an 18-year-old gay teenager who feels lost in life. He follows his best and only friend to join the Marines, despite knowing that gay people are not allowed to serve. Cameron then goes through an intense training while keeping his sexuality hidden from his fellows.

Created by Andy Parker, the show stars Miles Heizer as Cameron Cope, Max Parker as Sergeant Liam Robert Sullivan, Liam Oh as Ray McAffey, Sachin Bhatt as Major Wilkinson, Vera Farmiga as Barbara Cope, and Cedrick Cooper as Staff Sergeant Marcus McKinnon.

The rest of the cast includes Dominic Goodman as Isaiah Nash, Angus O'Brien as Thaddeus Beau Sterling Hicks, Nicholas Logan as Sergeant Cary Wayne Howitt, Kieron Moore as Nicholas Slovacek, Rico Paris as Santos, and Blake Burt as John Bowman.
