Sullivan's letter revealed aspects about his dark past in Episode 3 of Boots

In Episode 3 of the Netflix drama show, Boots, we see Sullivan receive a letter addressed to him by a mysterious character named W. It was common knowledge within the platoon that Sullivan was relieved earlier from his duty in Alpha Mission, Guam. However, the reason behind his discharge had been a complete secret, until the letter arrived.

Fans are shown a glimpse of the letter, which reads,

"Looks like you left Guam just in time. NCIS is poking around, watch your six." - W

The letter clearly indicates at some disturbing details from Sullivan's time in Guam, as he seems extremey rattled by the letter. He is disturbed to the point that he burns the letter immediately after reading it, indicating that the letter must be alluding toward some incriminating information about Sullivan's past.

However, the secret is revealed in Episode 5 when NCIS agent Blodgett shows up to interrogate Sullivan about his time at Guam. The audience quickly learned that the mysterious "W" was a Major Aaron Wilkinson, an officer who was now being investigated for s*domy and misconduct.

Although Sullivan originally denied having any relationship with Wilkinson beyond professional, Blodgett's pushing manipulated him into revealing his "Semper 1" tattoo, which was the same tattoo that Wilkinson also had on his chest. This revelation ended up exposing the nature of the relationship shared between Sullivan and Wilkinson, which was far from platonic.

While the story is primarily about the character of Cameron, Sullivan's coming-out story also plays an integral role in the progression of the story.

Boots is available for streaming on Netflix.
