More on this in our story.
Bosch: Legacy star Titus Welliver is the newest addition to The Westies
Bosch: Legacy star Titus Welliver has joined The Westies as Glenn Keenan, a troubled NYPD officer. While he is a man of the law, he has grown up with the Westies crew, which makes his position difficult in the series.
Torn between his loyalty and love, Glenn will have to make some difficult choices as the show progresses. In addition to Bosch: Legacy, Titus Welliver is most famously known for Deadwood and The Good Wife. He will also star in the upcoming Indie film Ricky, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.
Titus Welliver will cross paths with Simmons' Eamon Sweeney, the ruthless old-school leader of the titular group, whose criminal ambition and brutality are his two most feared weapons.
Simmons' recent projects include Red One, Goliath, The Union, and Night Sky.
What is The Westies about? Everything to know about MGM+'s upcoming crime thriller series
MGM+'s upcoming period crime series is set in 1980s Hell's Kitchen, New York, and is based on the real-life Irish-American organized crime gang that operated in the late 1900s.
Similar to Steven Knight's series Peaky Blinders and Martin Scorsese's film Gangs of New York, the crime series will follow the rise of the Irish organized crime gang and their struggle with the Italian mafia around the Five Points neighbourhood of lower Manhattan.
According to IMDb, the official synopsis for the show reads as follows:
"In 1980s Hell's Kitchen, the Westies crime gang eyes profits from the Javitz Center construction. Though vastly outnumbered by Italian mafia, their brutality earns them a share. Generational tensions rise as FBI probes deepen."
As mentioned in the synopsis, the construction of the Jacob Javitz Convention Center promises a financial windfall, and despite being outnumbered by the Italian mafia, The Westies' brutality has won them a share of the profits.
However, an internal conflict between the young and old generations and a deepening FBI investigation will increase the stakes for the gang.
