While Stranger Things is coming to an end in 2025 with its fifth season, the franchise will continue with a spin-off, Stranger Things: Tales from '85, an animated series scheduled for release in 2025. The show is set in the time between seasons 2 and 3, but it will not exactly affect the way Season 5 ends. Three pictures have been released on Instagram, with the caption,The 'Upside Down' may be closed, but the story is far from over. The third picture is of Max and Lucas looking for something or somebody in the woods with their torches lit.As the caption of the image reveals, the show takes place after Eleven had closed the gates between the real world and the Upside Down. Thus, there is a question of who or what will pose as the obstacle in this show. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Eric Robles, the show's developer and showrunner, talked about how he found a story in between seasons 2 and 3, saying,"I dissected the show, looking for any loopholes. I found a few of 'em,... And then I found this one idea that I was just like, 'Oh s---! I think that's it.'"He gave a vague hint, saying that the idea he came up with is,"Hawkins Lab science meets Upside Down matter,"He continued,"There's a chain reaction to the creatures that are in our world and the things that are popping up."Thus, whatever the obstacle or danger is in Stranger Things: Tales from '85, it is going to be connected to the creatures of the Upside Down.
