The creative mind behind Breaking Bad, Vince Gilligan, has a brand-new show, Pluribus, set to premiere on Apple TV. As is the way of the world, this sci-fi debuted in the shadow of Breaking Bad, one of the most popular shows of recent years, and would instantly be compared. It turns out, however, that while Gilligan might have changed the genre in his new creation, he has managed to retain the characteristic greatness.

Pluribus, ahead of its November 7 release, was sent for early critic reviews, and now that the reviews have come pouring in, the Apple TV sci-fi has debuted with a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score.

Pluribus, a science fiction thriller starring Better Call Saul star Rhea Seehorn, from the mind behind Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, is the creator's first series since the award-winning franchise's end. The Apple TV original recently debuted with its first two episodes and has critics and audiences equally impressed.

The show's synopsis is a simple one, but if the critic reviews are anything to go by, the show is anything but simple:

"The most miserable person on Earth must save the world from happiness."

It appears Gilligan has managed to get it right yet again. The early reviews have awarded the show a rare and coveted 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes. This score is subject to change since Rotten Tomatoes calculates its score as an aggregate based on reviews. At the time of writing, based on 28 critic reviews, Pluribus stood at a 100% score.

The Seattle Times is one of the contributors to the rare 100% score, describing the Vince Gilligan thriller as:

"Even when smaller in scale and confined in its setting, the ambition of “Pluribus” is commendable. It’s another great example of how Gilligan has a sharp eye when it comes to the little details of storytelling that he molds into works of more grand significance, and of how Seehorn is just a sensational screen presence."

Another review from IndieWire, without giving any explanation or spoilers on the show (a theme that is common in most of these reviews), describes it as:

"In a few weeks, it will be easier to talk about “Pluribus.” Until then, I humbly recommend paying attention to how it makes you feel. The strangeness is the point, and the strangeness is worth savoring."

Many of these reviews can’t help but find themselves advising the audience to let the strangeness of the Apple TV thriller wash over them. They reveal next to nothing about the plot, as observed in another review from Vulture:

"It’s slow television in the truest sense: deliberate and meandering, both thrilling and confounding in its refusal to yield payoff, immediate or otherwise."

If the Breaking Bad creator and the Better Call Saul star aren’t enough to propel you towards watching the Apple TV original, maybe the perfect Rotten Tomatoes score will be. The sincerity and enthusiasm in these reviews make it even more compelling.

Pluribus is set to release its third episode on Apple TV on November 14.
