Butterfly antagonist Piper Perabo really wants the Amazon series to have a second Season

Based on a graphic novel by Arash Amel, Butterfly is a 2025 American spy thriller series available on Amazon Prime Video. The main character of the story is David Jung, a former US CIA agent who currently resides in South Korea and whose history poses a threat to his family.

August 13, 2025, saw the premiere of the six episodes. Filmed in both South Korea and the United States, Butterfly blends drama and action in a fast-paced, global setting.

Piper Perabo, who portrays the wicked Juno in Amazon's Butterfly, adores the job and aspires for a second season. She likes the show's complicated family drama and suspense, and believes the tale has great potential to continue and evolve in future episodes.

"A little bit. In my case, we talked a little bit about Juno’s hopes and dreams. I want to put her in the worst situation possible and watch her dig her way out. I want even more guns."

Piper Perabo has stated in an interview with Variety that she finds portraying the evil character fun and calming. She characterized Juno as a strong, determined lady with a clear sense of purpose. Perabo likened Juno to a stern father who pushes their child hard, which helps to describe Juno's difficult and demanding behavior.

Perabo emphasized that, while Juno is a villain, the character has several dimensions. Juno's relationships with her adopted daughter, Rebecca (Reina Hardesty), and son Oliver (Louis Landau) provide complexity to her character. These familial links provide drama and tension that go beyond simple good vs evil storylines. Perabo believes the writers will go deeper into these relationships if the initiative continues.

Some significant questions remain unsolved at the end of the first season. The murder of David's wife and Rebecca's disappearance heighten the tension for what may happen next. Perabo expressed her excitement about these turns and the untapped potential they present for the next episodes. The thought of a second season appeals to her because she thinks the plot may develop in a variety of ways.

Perabo liked several of the sequences that portrayed a distinct side of Juno during the filming process. For instance, there is a scene where Rebecca is restrained close by and Juno eats a burger informally. This minor aspect brought a touch of unexpected comedy and demonstrated that Juno is a multifaceted character with her own peculiarities in addition to being a vicious monster.

With a number of well-known roles, Piper Perabo has had a fantastic acting career. As Annie Walker on the USA Network series Covert Affairs, she rose to fame. She also appeared in movies including The Prestige and Looper. She is a perfect fit for the part of Juno in Butterfly because of her experience in drama and action.
