"Can't ever get away": Love Island USA's Pepe and Iris open up about seeing fellow Islanders outside the villa

Love Island USA Season 7 stars Pepe Garcia-Gonzalez and Iris Kendall attended an interview with Access Hollywood on July 17, 2025. The two reflected on their journey on the show and opened up about various incidents.

Pepe and Iris recalled being together in the villa, staying closer in the city, and missing fellow Islanders. The two also mentioned how it felt different from the villa and going on dates with each other in the outside world.

Recalling their date from the night before, Love Island USA star Pepe revealed:

"We went on a little date last night. Ran into some of the Islanders ironically. It's like we can't ever get away from each other."

During Iris and Pepe's interview, one of the topics of discussion was their fellow co-stars. Talking more about that, Pepe said it had been "insane." He admitted to feeling happy and overwhelmed.

Adding more to that, Iris said it was "really good" to be home. She recalled not having mics around them. Pepe said that they were enjoying each other's company outside the villa.

"No eyes watching, just us," he added.

They also talked about his dog and leaving him behind with his family.

The host mentioned that the couple living in Southern California was one of the couples who lived nearby. Responding to that, Iris said it was crazy.

"It's insane. I didn't think that, you know, I was going to meet somebody that was so close to me. I thought I was going to meet someone like across the country or you know, whatever, but it's so nice to have someone like... and get to know somebody that's so close to you," said Iris.

Pepe added that being closer to each other location-wise "worked out great" for them. He mentioned how they expected to find their potential connections from "anywhere." However, they later learned that they had been "40 minutes away" from each other the whole time.

Iris and Pepe were asked about their relationship outside the villa. He responded that it had been "great" so far, while Iris said that it had been fun.

The couple recalled going on a date the night before. They recalled seeing some of their fellow Islanders there. Iris added that they met "randomly" and mentioned the invisible string theory.

Love Island USA star Pepe added that he had a "fun week" planned to be spent together.

"We've been texting and FaceTiming and you know, it... just those things are so nice to do. Because it feels like normal. But it's like, it's difficult like I feel like I...being away from each other too," added Iris.

Listening to Iris talk about that, Pepe recalled how they used to be "close 24/7" in the villa. The duo talked about going to their own homes separately, which was different from the show. Iris admitted she missed pancakes, which she used to have in the Villa.

Love Island USA stars recalled being in the "giant room" together with fellow Islanders, pillow fights, and group hugs from the show.
