When Netflix announced the full cast for Wednesday Season 2 on May 7, 2024, fans immediately noticed the absence of Percy Hynes White, who played Xavier Thorpe in the first season. The supernatural comedy, which stars Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams, is moving ahead without one of its original main characters.

Hynes White responded to the announcement by resharing the Season 2 cast photo on Instagram and writing,

“Can’t wait to watch Season 2. Much love.”

It marked his first public acknowledgment of his departure since speculation began last year. Hynes White had faced allegations of sexual misconduct in early 2023, which he later called a “campaign of misinformation.”

Although no formal charges were brought, and the tweets were deleted, public pressure led to fan campaigns demanding his removal. Netflix did not issue a statement, and Hynes White has since been written out without explanation.

Netflix officially confirmed Percy Hynes White's exit from Wednesday on May 7, 2024, when the platform released the Season 2 cast list. His character, Xavier Thorpe, had been positioned as one of the show's key supporting leads in the first season.

He appeared in all eight episodes, was part of a potential romantic arc with Wednesday Addams, and was expected to return. However, his name was missing from the new lineup, and no replacement-actor for Xavier was announced either. Instead, the show appeared to have written the character out entirely without addressing it in public statements.

Hynes White’s departure came nearly a year after he was accused of sexual misconduct in January 2023 through a series of anonymous and now-deleted X (formerly Twitter) posts.

The accusations were not accompanied by any police report or legal action, but the claims spread quickly on social media, particularly among Wednesday’s younger fanbase. A segment of viewers began online petitions demanding Netflix drop him from future seasons. Hashtags urging his removal trended for several days.

In June 2023, Hynes White addressed the situation through a lengthy Instagram statement. He said someone he had never met had launched a false campaign against him. He claimed underage photos were being used to misrepresent him, and acting clips were being passed off as real behavior.

He also revealed that his family had been doxxed, his friends had received threats, and a close friend of his, named Jane, was wrongly portrayed as one of the alleged victims. According to Hynes White, Jane had given him permission to clarify that she was not involved in any wrongdoing and that her attempts to correct the story were being ignored.

Despite the post, neither Netflix nor the creators of Wednesday, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, issued any official statement on whether the allegations were linked to casting decisions. Hynes White continued to be included in conversations around the show’s future for several months. There was no public announcement regarding his status until the full Season 2 cast was released in May 2024. By then, filming had already begun in Ireland.

After the list went live, Alfred Gough posted a group photo of the main cast on Instagram. The image included returning stars like Jenna Ortega, Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, and new additions such as Steve Buscemi and Billie Piper. Hynes White wasn’t tagged or mentioned. Later that day, he reposted the same photo with the caption,

“I had so much fun working on this show.”

He did not comment further or mention the allegations. Netflix and Hynes White’s team also declined to provide statements to the press.

Xavier’s removal significantly alters the character dynamics from Season 1. The show appears to be moving forward without addressing the exit at all.
