André Holland Henry Deaver is the heart of the series. At the beginning of the series, a flashback scene shows a young Henry Deaver. As the story progresses, André Holland brings life to the present-day Henry Deaver. He is now a lawyer working on a difficult case.

The manner in which Henry converses with Leane in this episode truly leaves an impact. His past is still very impactful, which can be seen in the way he behaves. Holland’s other projects include Moonlight, 42, Selma, A Wrinkle in Time, and many more.


2) Scott Glenn as Alan Pangborn

Scott Glenn’s Alan Pangborn perfectly captures the eerie atmosphere of the storyline. In the flashback scene, it is shown that a young Alan Pangborn brought Henry back after he was lost.

In the present day, Alan stays at Henry’s mother’s house. However, after Henry arrives at the house, he is not happy to see that Alan is staying there. There is no doubt that Alan Pangborn’s presence in this series is going to be a crucial one.


3) Noel Fisher as Dennis Zalewski

Noel Fisher’s Dennis Zaleski takes on a crucial part in this episode of the series. He is the first person to come across the kid while searching for the number of beds after the new warden arrives.

He is completely taken aback when he sees the bulging eyes of the kid. Noel Fisher perfectly captures the dark atmosphere that the first episode requires to set the stage for the upcoming events. Some of Noel Fisher’s other projects are Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Red, etc.


4) Sissy Spacek as Ruth Deaver

Sissy Spacek’s Ruth Deaver is also a significant part of the storyline of this series. In the first episode, Ruth is introduced after Henry returns to her house for the case. He enters the house to check on Ruth, but finds her outside.

It is then revealed that Ruth suffers from dementia, making her forget things. When Henry approaches Ruth, she completely forgets that he is her son. After Henry tells her that she adopted her, she finally remembers. Sissy Spacek truly brings a heartwarming touch to her character in this series.


5) Bill Skarsgård as The Kid

Being held captive in the same place for years definitely takes a toll on one’s mind and body, which Bill Skarsgård perfectly brings to life through his performance as the kid in Castle Rock.

In the first episode of the series, the kid’s appearance becomes the crucial factor in moving the story forward. It cannot be denied that the first episode perfectly brings forth a distinct level of intrigue through these elements of subtle horror and tension.
