Plot and lead character of Chad Powers

The show follows Russ Holliday, a talented yet self-sabotaging quarterback whose life is devastated by his own self-destructive behavior. In an effort to revive his life and reenter the game, he adopts a new identity—Chad Powers—and auditions for a struggling Southern football team. Contrary to initial speculation, the show does not revolve around a suspension from college sports, but rather a name change voluntarily undertaken due to personal failure.

Origins and background of the show

The show is based on a sketch from the ESPN+ series Eli's Places, where Eli Manning donned a wig and prosthetics to go undercover as walk-on quarterback Chad Powers at Penn State. This comedic moment became a viral hit and serves as the creative spark for the new scripted series.

Chad Powers brings a viral sports moment to scripted television through a rich character study filled with humor and redemption. The series is supported by an experienced creative team and a strong ensemble cast. Stay tuned for further announcements regarding international release and episode information as it becomes available.
