Previously, in Chicago Med Season 10 Episode 20, the nurses' protest led to Maggie finally getting a seat on the hospital's advisory board. The shortage of staff resulted in ultimate chaos, where Dr. Charles had to step into the ER. It's here where he met his estranged mother and her fiancé, Freddie Lambert. After the initial hiccups between the son and the mother, even though Freddie recovered, Charles' mother, Margaret, collapsed.

The episode ended on a tense cliffhanger, leaving the viewers question about Margaret's fate. On the other hand, Lenox reported Dr. Hayes for alleged sexual misconduct involving Naomi.

The episode began with Dr. Mitch Ripley struggling to babysit his godson. Ripley observes that there's something wrong with the baby Nate. In fact, the baby kept crying unless it was held in a certain position. Ripley went to Dr. Frost, a pediatrician, to help put Nate to sleep, but he was busy with his work.

Soon, he came across a young boy, Noah, who needed a new pair of lungs. Noah's parents were adamant about not putting him on a ventilator. Noah's health was deteriorating, and his body was on the verge of respiratory failure. Dr. Frost was thus forced to find some other way to save the life of his young patient. However, even though things were looking hopeful for Noah, things turned messy by the end of the episode when a richer patient, Alea Lancer, skipped the list and secured the lungs that were originally meant for him. Alea's billionaire father pulled some strings and made the impossible happen. But this put Noah's life at ultimate risk as he was barely breathing and needed a transplant soon.

On the other hand, Dr. Archer's first patient for the day was somebody she knew. Yes, it was Dr. Lenox's brother, Kip. Kip explained how he was struggling with balance and often tripped. He planned to never get tested as he was afraid that he might be inheriting the deadly condition that caused their parents' deaths. This left Dr. Archer quite worried.

Chicago Med Season 10 Episode 21 recap: What major revelations shocked Dr. Asher and Dr. Charles?

In between the chaos, Dr. Asher, who was preparing to be a surrogate for her sister, learnt something shocking that altered her plans. She finds out that she is pregnant. Yes, you heard that right! Dr. Asher is going to be a mother.

Meanwhile, the viewers also come to know that Dr. Charles' mother, Margaret, had passed away. What hurt Charles the most was that he didn't get the opportunity to mend things with his estranged mother. Dr. Sharon Goodwin tried to comfort him before his mother's funeral. Soon, his eldest daughter Robin, a former doctor at the Gaffney Chicago Med, and Anna, his younger daughter studying at Stanford, arrived for their grandmother's funeral. Robin did share a bond with her grandmother. She told Charles that her grandmother apologized for her racist behaviour and her remarks whenever she called. It was then that Charles realized that his mother, Margaret, was a changed woman, and she cared for her grandchildren.

In an emotional eulogy, Charles apologized to his mother for not giving her a chance to mend their relationship. Charles' younger daughter Anna confessed to her father that she had dropped out of university and had been in the town for a month or so.

Chicago Med Season 10 Episode 21 recap: Was Dr. Hayes finally exposed for his misconduct?

Previously, we saw that Naomi, the Cardiothoracic resident, who was sexually harassed by Dr. Hayes, urged Dr. Lenox not to report him as she was afraid that it would ruin her career. However, Lenox was too determined; she reported it to Dr. Sharon Goodwin. Dr. Hayes made grand donations to the hospital, hence, he was only given a lenient punishment. Dr. Hayes dared to mock Lenox in the elevator. He bragged about how he could influence the hospital's decision and could get any girl he wanted because he was rich. Lenox gave him a befitting reply, but she was too busy with her brother Kip, who collapsed while leaving the hospital premises.

Soon, Hayes's misconduct and harassment incidents were leaked to a newspaper. Surprisingly, not just Naomi's, it contained several reports by other women too. The hospital board was thus forced to fire Dr. Hayes, as it was affecting the reputation of the institution. Even though Naomi wasn't sure whether to report Dr. Hayes initially, she soon gathered the courage to leak the case to the media outlet. However, Naomi left her residency at Gaffney and decided to relocate. Lenox wished her luck for the future.
