Chicago Med Season 11 Episode 6 recap: Bert’s family comes together as a shocking secret comes to light

Bert’s storyline in Chicago Med Season 11 has been keeping the audience on the edge, with the last episode leaving the suspense about his fate up in the air. The episode had ended on a cliffhanger with Goodwin being called to the assisted facility after Bert took a fall. She arrives just in time to see Bert surrounded by medics. Episode 6 titled ‘The Story of Us’, finds Bert in the hospital, with his family beside him.

Bert’s family is having a hard time in Chicago Med Season 11 Episode 6

Bert was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s a while ago. In Chicago Med Season 11 however, his condition has further deteriorated, and he had to be moved to an assisted living facility. Episode 6 starts off with a flashback where Bert and Goodwin are with their three children. The scene brings the audience back to the present, where Goodwin, Michael, Tara and David, are waiting for the reports.

Bert’s CT scan shows that he has a bleed, which is life-threatening. Archer, who has taken over Bert’s case shares that he has an advanced directive to not do a surgery. Making the situation even more difficult and leaving them with limited choices. David makes his discontent clear, which the other siblings do not take lightly.

It becomes a tense moment for the family in Chicago Med Season 11 Episode 6, when David decides to get a second opinion, while the other siblings emphasize on respecting their father’s wishes. Tara isn’t going to let her brother question them and shows her anger for not being around in the first place, as Goodwin tries to calm them.

Frost asks Howard out in Chicago Med Season 11 Episode 6

Dr. Frost is treating a young patient, Masie, in Chicago Med Season 11 Episode 6. Her mother identifies Frost from his television days. The awkward moment however ends thankfully as Frost and Howard share a lighthearted moment about it. Frost will artfully ask her out for dinner, but she does not entertain it since they are colleagues, making it even more uncomfortable.

Meanwhile, Chicago Fire’s Mikami and Novak are at the hospital with two young patients Adrian and Lexie, who were struck by hornets.

In Chicago Med Season 11 Episode 6, Lenox and Howard are taking care of a patient, Jabo, who is gravely injured. He would share with Lenox details about his tattoos, which he got to grieve his late wife.

Also, Sadie and Emelia are at the hospital. Emelia takes the couple by suprise when she calls Ripley ‘daddy’. Sadie will share with Hannah that she has been having issues with her leg prosthetic that she hasn’t told Ripley yet. She is afraid that he will try to fix it, and she knew it is a difficult path ahead. Later in Chicago Med Season 11 Episode 6, Sadie will tell Riley about her condition and tells him that he needs to take a step back. She did not want Emelia to get too attached and leaves.

Goodwin reveals a surprising secret in Chicago Med Season 11 Episode 6

Tara shares that Bert always favored David when they were children, something she clearly resents. She even blames her mother for always taking his side despite his missteps. But the family moment takes an unexpected turn when David finally blurts out that the real reason he was treated differently was because Bert is not his biological father.

In Chicago Med Season 11 Episode 6, Goodwin appears heartbroken as she finally shares her secret with the children. She discloses that she was already pregnant when she met Bert. Though she was in love with David’s father, he did not take the news about the pregnancy well. Bert wanted to date her, despite her pregnancy. Bert and Goodwin revealed the truth about David’s father when he was 12. They wanted him to share it with his siblings when he was ready.

On the other side, in Chicago Med Season 11 Episode 6, Frost shares with Adrian that the accident helped them find cyst in Lexie’s brain. They can now save her before it could have worsened. When Frost gets to the treehouse to get Lexie’s bunny he meets Novak, who was already there for the same. They two bond over some a friendly banter. Lexie’s surgery is a success and finds Adrian by her side with the bunny.

It is a moment of reflection for everyone in Chicago Med Season 11 Episode 6

Jabo will share a heartfelt moment with Lenox, as he suggests her to get a tattoo to help her overcome her pain. But to Lenox’s shock, Jabo suddenly passes out. Lenox will share that he got poisoned from the well water in his cabin. Early intervention in fact helped him. Lenox will later reveal her tattoo after taking off her necklace, finally coming to terms with the grief about her late mother.

Meanwhile, Howard shares with Hannah that she turned down Frost because she worries that if she dates a colleague, she will be judged at work. When she decides to go back and ask him out, she finds him talking to Novak and decides against it.

David will share a heart-warming moment with Goodwin as he shares his remorse for not being around Bert. Goodwin tells him that it is time he said goodbye to his father. At the end, Bert’s family are around him as they come together for his final moments. Indicating the end of an era.
