The Chicago PD episode opens with Burgess finding out about the murder of a teenage girl in her neighborhood. Her concerns about the environment she is raising Mac grow, and she looks for a private school for her further upbringing. Ruzek and Burgess are cops but also neighbors, and such an incident is concerning for them. It is a 19-year-old girl, Sasha King, who has been found dead. She used to live with her mother, alcoholic and reserved after her father's death. Sasha's death comes as another storm for Natalie, which puts her again into immense sorrow.
During further interrogation about Sasha's death, her best friend mentions that she had been working on the gubernatorial campaign of Greg Whitman, a man with political influence and sources. Eventually, Burgess discovered a photograph of her with Tommy Walsh, who appears to be her best friend's brother. These two had been romantically involved after recently breaking up.
Tommy isn't an ordinary boy; he has a record of trouble, including one past charge of sexual misconduct. This made the detectives question whether Frank Walsh, Tommy's father and a respected cop, used his position to curb his crimes.
Officers then bring in Tommy for interrogation, where he panics and runs off. On chasing him, the police find drugs in his possession. Tommy confesses that he has nothing to do with Sasha's death, and he didn't hurt her. But when they found Sasha's audio diary entries, it painted a grim picture. In one of the recordings, she described her life in Canaryville. She mentions something about a " familiar stranger" who is dangerous.
This is when Frank barges in furious, questioning why his son has been interrogated by the intelligence. He also brought in his lawyer and threatened a lawsuit if Tommy was questioned without representation. The police found out about Sasha's connection to a campaign office and the crucial information that Edna told Sasha, in Chicago PD.
This is how the cops found the real killer in Chicago PD season 13 episode 3
When Edna went to an Alex Feldman party in Chicago PD, she got unconscious after drinking a little and woke up bruised and disoriented. She believes she had been raped that night. This is something she shared with Sasha as she could trust her. Sash urged her to report the assault, but Edna backed off. Sasha was adamant and returned to the campaign to find solid proof, but Edna had already told Feldman about Sasha's plan to get Feldman out of fear, putting Sasha in danger.
The intelligence then devised a sting and sent Edna to one of Feldman's donor parties. Burgess accompanied her as her cousin and discovered that the hand stamp they used for the entry contained the drug being slipped to victims. She started to feel dizzy and locked herself in a room. Ruzek intervenes, though they did not get their recorded confession, they had enough evidence to arrest Feldman.
During interrogation, Feldman admitted he shoved Sasha after catching her snooping around that night, but he was only meant to scare her. The real killer is revealed to be Lily, her best friend, who was jealous of Sasha her ambitions and college life. Lily staged the scene in a way that made Tommy the scapegoat.
In Chicago PD, Frank again tried to save her daughter when Lily confessed to him about what she had done. Ruzek, who respected Frank all this time, arrested both the father and the daughter when the truth came out.
