Chicago PD Season 13 Episode 4 recap - Brutal crime spree and revelation about Voight's past

Chicago PD Season 13, episode 4 is definitely not for the faint-hearted ones. From the beginning of the episode, there is a distinct level of tension. It completely fills the atmosphere. The thrill is also quite intense. All of these elements are coupled with gruesome revelations that truly leave a lasting impact. It cannot be denied that Chicago PD is showing how action-packed police procedurals can be.

Brutal crime spree and revelation about Voight’s past in Chicago PD Season 13 episode 4

The episode begins with Imani in trouble. She is facing some housing issues when Voight arrives. The two of them reach the car. They are quite intrigued to find an envelope on the car’s windshield. Voight takes the envelope. He opens the envelope and sees a picture of an injured boy. It quickly raises the tension. Imani is intrigued.

She tries to ask Voight about it. Voight completely ignores her questions. Imani gets quite suspicious about Voight’s unusual reaction. She is unable to get more into it as they get a report about an armed robbery. They reach the location to find that the man is brutally injured. The woman next to him gives them the details of the attacker.

Help arrives soon. However, before they are able to process the whole situation, they are informed about another armed attack. Imani and Voight leave to find out about this new attack. When they reach the gas station from where the reports came, they find that two people were attacked. They also find that the wife of one of the victims was taken away by this attacker.

They soon begin to chase this attacker and find out that the attacker took the woman to get help so that she can be saved. This completely changes the narrative of the situation. Imani and Voight are confused about this situation. The team begins to investigate further. They find the identity of the attacker. His name is Gary.

He comes from a rich family. The whole team raids Gary’s house. At the house, Gary's father informs the police about Gary’s girlfriend and also adds that he might be stealing to help her drug addiction. Voight and Imani then find out about Sage while they visit the NA meeting.

After reaching Sage’s house, they catch her before she is able to escape. Then they take her for interrogation. Through Imani’s distinct interrogation skills, she convinces Sage to reveal the truth about Gary. This episode of Chicago PD Season 13 takes a turn when they find out about Gary’s abusive nature. The whole team begins to search for Gary.

Officer Taylor finally is able to find Gary. Voight warns Officer Taylor not to approach Gary, but when they reach him, they find that Gary has attacked him. Voight begins searching for Gary following the blood splatters and is suddenly attacked by Gary from behind.

After attacking Voight, Gary begins to apologize. He then begins to tell Gary that he was not always like this. It can be understood that something from his past impacted him in a manner that he turned out to be this aggressive and abusive.

Voight tries to calm him down, but before he can do anything, Gary shoves a rod in his eyes and kills himself. At the end of Chicago PD Season 13, episode 4, Voight and Imani go to Gary’s father’s house to inform him about his death. His father does not react. It can be understood that he does not care about his son. Gary’s father’s disinterest causes Voight to call for an investigation into him.

While driving back to the station, Imani begins to investigate the picture of the injured boy. She asks if the boy in the picture is Voight. Voight nods his head and confirms that the boy in the picture is indeed him. The episode ends with a note of sadness. There is an indication of some complication about Voight’s past. It can be understood that Chicago PD Season 13 is going to focus more on Voight’s past in the upcoming episodes.
