After Torres' car is slammed, he regains focus and realizes it was a prison transport and not any random car that had hit him. The driver and one officer are dead, while his service weapon is missing, which leaves him in a difficult position.

He discovers that the prisoner is alive as soon as Torres nears him, he turns the tables to make Torres a hostage. Morgan, the prisoner, also asserts that the crash was not done by him. When he gets to know that Torres is an Intelligence, he takes Torres at gunpoint and forces him to help him flee the scene.

In the police station, the team gets to know that Morgan has been convicted of murdering his wife, but also claims that he is framed by his brother-in-law. He is looking for him now, himself, as the system betrayed him. Morgan uses Torres to prove his innocence, which depicts how he is somehow trying to control his narrative, much like Torres himself.

Morgan drags Torres to his brother-in-law's house, breaks down the door, and holds the wife at gunpoint, pressurizing her to tell where her husband is. The wife reveals that her husband has left her because of what she did to Morgan. This reveals a web of secrets layered up.

Morgan and Torres tussle among themselves, in which Morgan almost loses his conscience. When he wakes up, he sees Torres sitting across from him. Torress could have left him to die, but is now taking care of him. This suggests that Torress now believes Morgan about being framed and trusts him that he is telling the truth. For a cop who’s lived on the margins himself, Torres’s instinct to trust someone the system calls “a criminal” feels personal.

Torres takes Morgan to his local church, where there is powerful energy symbolizing redemption. He approached the priest and told him to track down Carter, Morgan's brother-in-law, whom Morgan thinks has framed him. Torres follows his gut and his faith rather than police protocol.
