Chicago P.D., the NBC police procedural series that is scheduled to return for season 13 on October 1, 2025, has a new cast member. At the end of season twelve, the show said goodbye to Officer Kiana Cook (played by Toya Turner), and now, a new cast member for season thirteen has been announced by a fellow cast member.

As Marina Squerciati posted on Instagram, Arienne Mandi has joined the cast of Chicago P.D. season 13 as Officer Imani.

Chicago P.D. season 13 has a new character joining

Chicago P.D. is a police procedural drama that first released on NBC in 2014 and has completed twelve seasons so far. Created by Dick Wolf and Matt Olmstead, the show follows the patrol police officers and the Intelligence Unit of the 21st district of the Chicago Police Department as they fight to keep criminals off the streets.

Season 13 is scheduled to return for season 13 on October 1, 2025, and Marina Squerciati, who plays Detective Kim Burgess in the show, recently posted a picture of the latest Chicago P.D. character on her Instagram, with the caption,

"ChiHards, welcome Officer Imani! She's awesome and fierce and wears cool shoes and we like her a lot. #chicagopd @arienne_mandi #ariennemandi #team #wolfpack #imani,"

Arienne Mandi, who plays Officer Imani, was joined in the picture by Benjamin Levy Aguilar and Patrick John Flueger, who play Officer Dante Torres and Officer Adam Ruzek on the show, respectively. The new character, as said by Squerciati, is going to have a great style, as evident from her pair of trendy baggy jeans and cool sneakers.

If Mandi seems familiar to you, it's because you might have seen her recently as Noor Taheri in Netflix's The Night Agent season two. Mandi is also known for playing Daniela Núñez in The L Word: Generation Q and Valentina Velez in In the Vault.

Chicago P.D. season 13 will see Burgess and Ruzek as a married couple, but not everything will be positive and bright, as the future of the Intelligence Unit remains uncertain. Co-showrunner and executive producer Gwen Sigan, speaking about the future storyline of the show, said in an interview with TV Insider,

"Yeah, we had a few storylines we couldn’t get to this season that I still think are out there and could be interesting next year. I think Torres [Benjamin Levy Aguilar] is in this really interesting spot where nothing has been buttoned up for him. He’s in this very emotional, vulnerable spot, which would be really interesting to keep writing. I think Voight obviously, who knows what this guy’s going to get up to next year. I mean, he’s definitely in an interesting place and to see how the team is going to react to that because the team has different relationships with him now than years ago. So how is that going to all work out next season? So there’s a lot of, I think, interesting places we could go and we’ll just hopefully make it fresh and different."

We will be formally introduced to Officer Imani when season 13 of Chicago P.D. arrives. But it'll also be interesting to see the regular characters get back to fighting crime while overcoming personal struggles.

Chicago P.D. season 13 premieres on October 1, 2025, on NBC at 10 pm ET.
