Gear up! Chief of War Episode 6 The Splintered Paddle drops this Friday exclusively on Apple TV+.

Previously, in Apple TV+'s Chief of War, we saw how Ka'iana, a Maui warrior chief, sailed to the Zamboanga islands to procure ammunition. His only motive was to stop King Kahekili's ruthless campaign. In Zamboanga, there was considerable chaos, and it also served as an eye-opener for Ka'iana. He witnessed the harsh cruelties of the world outside the Hawaiian islands. Meanwhile, he also rescued his shipmate Tony from slavery and met Vai, a native Hawaiian woman who helped him to procure ammunition. When they finally reached Hawai'i, Ka'iana reunited with his family. After initial skepticism, by the end of the episode, Ka'iana won Kamehameha's trust by bravely winning a challenge. The episode ended with Keoua's men burning Kohala's food supplies. The late king's son, Keoua, was furious over Kamehameha's appointment as the War God.

Chief of War Episode 6 drops Friday, August 29, 2025, on Apple TV+. The episode will be available to watch at 12 am ET onwards in the U.S. For West Coast viewers, Chief of War Episode 6 will be available on Thursday night, ie, on August 28, 2025.

Chief of War Episode 5 recap: The Race of the Gods- A quick recap

Episode 5 of Chief of War, The Race of the Gods, dropped on August 22, 2025, on Apple TV+. Even though it was a much slower episode, it acts as a bridge, weaving the plot. In the episode, Ka'iana finally returns to Hawai'i loaded with ammunition to help them fight against King Kahekili. However, as soon as he stepped on the shores of Hawai'i, Moku, the ever-suspicious chief, reminded the council of Ka'iana's past betrayals. He wasn't too pleased with the foreigners either and instructed them to stay on their boats and told Ka'iana that it was up to Kamehameha to decide whether he would allow him to stay back or not. When Kamehameha challenges Ka'iana, he wins the near-deadly sled competition and gains his confidence and a position in the council.

Meanwhile, Keoua's jealousy boiled over. He called for a meeting, and when Kamehameha didn't attend it he took it upon himself to teach him a lesson. In the closing scenes, we saw how Keoua's men burnt down Kohala's food storage huts, a bold move against Kamehameha's district that signaled the beginning of open conflict. What started as tension between the cousins is now edging towards full-blown war.

Chief of War Episode 6: What to expect?

Chief of War Episode 6 is set to deepen the divides. Kupouhi’s quiet hope of peace might be tested. Her regret over choosing Ka’iana over Namake may come into play in the upcoming episode. Elsewhere, Ka'iana, though loyal, will begin to question Kamehameha's leadership, especially after Keoua's men burn down Kohala's food storage huts.
