The makers of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina left fans awestruck. Some called it bold. Others called it heartbreaking. But viewers agreed that it was one of the best shows to watch on Netflix.
The series aired for four seasons, all of which were filled with chaos, witchcraft, and existential threats. Sabrina Spellman’s story revealed diverse supernatural narratives.
But season 4 unfolded, and we realized that the real danger wasn’t just demons or dark priests anymore. It was the approaching end of everything.
Let’s understand the season 4 finale of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and what leads to Sabrina's death, and what happens to the coven.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: The Eldritch Terrors

Father Blackwood unleashes the Eldritch Terrors after somehow surviving every downfall.
So what are the Eldritch Terrors? These are cosmic-level threats older than time- The Weird, The Uninvited, The Darkness, and finally The Void.
They’re forces of destruction that twist reality. The coven, now calling themselves the Order of Hecate, has to face each terror as it appears. Aunt Zelda tries her best to hold the group together. But on the other hand, the world falls apart eventually.
And in the middle of it all? We got two Sabrinas.
The rise of two Sabrinas
Season 3 ended with Sabrina making a time loop to fix the chaos she caused, then to keep both versions of herself, one to rule in Hell as Sabrina Morningstar, and one to live in Greendale as Sabrina Spellman.
But Season 4 makes it clear that it broke something in the universe. Having two Sabrinas existing at once throws the balance off.
Sabrina Morningstar ends up facing the consequences first. When she tries to stop Father Blackwood, she stumbles into a mirror dimension and comes face to face with The Void, or the final and most powerful terror. It consumes her completely.
Her body literally crashes back into Sabrina Spellman’s world. And when our Sabrina sees it, you can feel the guilt hit her like a spell gone wrong.

The void and the end of everything
Once The Void is introduced, the tone of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina changes. It’s not just about saving Greendale anymore. It’s about saving existence entirely.
Sabrina absorbs some amount of The Void’s power while trying to contain it. Due to this, she can remove people and even bring them back. But she also realizes the changes taking over her. In fact, she becomes the very thing she has been fighting.
This time it's different. It’s about Sabrina confronting herself, literally and emotionally. Her power, her choices, her mistakes.
Ambrose, as usual, is the first to see it. He tells her straight: “You can’t control this, cousin.” But Sabrina doesn’t listen. When has she ever?
Sabrina’s Final Choice
The last two episodes hit hard. Everyone’s fighting to pull Sabrina back from losing herself. But when she realizes The Void can’t be destroyed, she takes up the challenge to contain it all by herself.
Pandora’s Box is the only thing that can trap The Void. To make it work, someone has to take it inside and close it from within. Given the risk factor, no one else volunteers.
Sabrina smiles, bids goodbye, and steps into the darkness. She locks The Void away, but doesn’t make it back.
The show doesn’t soften it. Sabrina dies. No loophole, no surprise twist, no magical reset button. For once, the girl who’s been outsmarting fate faces it head-on.
It’s raw. It’s tragic. But it also fits. Sabrina’s whole story has been about taking responsibility for her power, even when it costs her everything.

Nick’s goodbye and that final scene
After her departure, the world goes on. The coven survives. But someone grieved harder than the rest.
Nick Scratch, Sabrina’s love interest, doesn’t handle it well, as we can see in the funeral scene.
In Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season finale, Sabrina is seen in a bright, quiet place. The “Sweet Hereafter.” She looks peaceful for the first time in forever. Then Nick walks in and reveals that he “swam in the Sea of Sorrows” to find her.
Where it leaves the coven
The rest of the characters don’t vanish after Sabrina’s gone. Each of them finds a way to keep going, even with the hole she leaves behind.
Aunt Zelda takes on full leadership of the Order of Hecate. She’s steadier now, less rigid, more human. Losing Sabrina softens her, but it also strengthens her.
Aunt Hilda goes back to her simple comforts, like the mortuary, the home she built with Dr. C. She’s the heart that keeps everyone grounded.
Ambrose stays curious. He’s the thinker of the group, the one who sees patterns no one else does. The show hints he might explore beyond Greendale, maybe even other dimensions.
Prudence finally ends Father Blackwood once and for all. Her revenge arc comes full circle. There’s satisfaction, but it doesn’t feel clean. Nothing in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina ever does.
Lilith, after seasons of betrayal and survival, reclaims the throne of Hell. She kills Lucifer and takes back her power. It’s a quiet victory, but an important one.
The coven stands. We don’t see them rebuild completely, but you can sense they will. That’s what witches do; they endure.

What it all means
For Sabrina, it was the first time she didn’t try to outsmart destiny. She didn’t trick the rules. She didn’t split herself in two. She just accepted what had to be done.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has always had this running theme that power comes with a cost.
There’s also something poetic in how her two selves, Spellman and Morningstar, finally become one before she dies. The human and the witch, the light and the dark. She spent four seasons trying to figure out which side she belonged to. Turns out she was always both.
And then there’s love. Nick’s choice to join her isn’t about giving up but about closure. He couldn’t live in a world she died to save. It’s the kind of tragic romantic gesture Chilling Adventures of Sabrina thrives on.
