Apple TV+'s sci-fi drama, Silo, follows the life of a community in the dystopian future. The community lives in a giant underground protected space, called Silo, that they believe saves them from the toxicity of the outside world. Created by Graham Yost, this Rebecca Ferguson-starring show is based on Hugh Howey's trilogy series.

Silo premiered in May 2023 and already rolled out two seasons. Additionally, the makers have officially greenlit both the third and fourth seasons. So if you like gripping dystopian tales with deep, dark secrets, slow suspense, and bold characters, Silo is a perfect watch.

Rebecca Ferguson, who plays Juliette Nichols, a keen and dedicated engineer in the sci-fi series. As the main lead of the show, Ferguson spilled some tidbits about her role and experience during a 2023 Zoom interview with UPI. She told

"It's completely relatable to society. You don't know if what you're looking out into is actually correct."

Ferguson compared the silo's windows to how the modern media functions. She revealed just like the people in the silo only see through the windows what the higher authorities want them to see, the media is controlled by people in power. She drew a parallel on how media shapes public perception, often filtering the reality, just like the silo survivors are shown a post-apocalyptic world through the screens—a deadly and toxic atmosphere.

In the interview with UPI, Ferguson opened up about the class divide they portrayed in Silo. Initially, Ferguson's character starts as an engineer in one of the lower levels of the silo and unexpectedly becomes the sheriff after the death of Holston Becker. Becker, the former sheriff, was helping her to investigate the death of George Wilkins.

Through the eyes of Juliette, the viewers were able to see a sharp class divide among the silo residents. The maximum survivors were kept on the lower levels of the silos, which were dark and overcrowded, whereas the polished upper floors were reserved for the privileged higher authorities.

Ferguson revealed to UPI that Juliette, who spent most of the time in the lower silo levels and was suddenly plunged in the upper levels, felt a stark difference. She described Juliette's perspective on the privileged silo population as follows,

"They speak differently. They smell differently. Everything is just wrong for her and she misses her people and the food tastes different."
