Ahead of the release of MGM+'s psychological horror series The Institute, the legendary author Stephen King took to X and gave it a rare stamp of approval. In his latest tweet, King wrote,

"THE INSTITUTE premieres this Sunday. Cool kids raging against the machine. MGM+. It's really good."

Based on Stephen King's bestselling 2019 novel, The Institute follows a group of children with psychic abilities held in a sinister facility. The series stars Ben Barnes and Mary Louise Parker and is directed by Jack Bender. It will consist of eight episodes.

So if you are into shows like Stranger Things or Firestarter, The Institute is a perfect pick for your weekend binge-watch list. It's bleak, intense, and eerily grounded.

Stephen King's stamp of approval fuels hype around The Institute

Stephen King isn't one to hand out compliments easily. King has been vocal about his work's adaptation and has provided honest feedback. For instance, he slammed projects like The Shining for deviating from his novel and praised The Outsider when they hit the right note. Stephen King's approval acts as a boost to the upcoming series that has managed to create a steady buzz among the audience. His tweet could, in fact, sway fans still skeptical of seeing another of his novels reimagined for TV. Here's what the fans are saying,

"I’m on it! Can’t wait to watch." wrote @MunizHilly
"Loved the book and have been waiting for this to happen since then. So glad it’s a TV show and not a movie." commented @Tag80
"Cool kids raging against the machine? I will give it a try!" added @Der_Schalk_666
