Could there be a BMF Season 5? Here’s what we know so far

Created by Randy Huggins, BMF, is a crime drama series featuring Demetrius Flenory JR., Da’Vinchi, Myles Truitt, and others. The show premiered on STARZ in 2021 and has 4 seasons till now.

BMF has garnered rave reviews from critics and viewers over the course of its seasons and is one of the few shows that focuses on the world of mafia by keeping the Black community at the center.

The show is inspired by a true story and focuses on two brothers, Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory and Terry “Southwest T”. While Demetrius is charismatic and ambitious, Terry has the business acumen and often struggles with morality.

However, both the brothers make it big in the drug trafficking and money laundering business and rise from the streets of Detroit, to become the owners of a vast mafia empire.

The show recently premiered is Season 4 finale episode on August 15th, 2024, and it was full of twists and turns. The cliffhanger at the end of the episode, seems to indicate that there will be a Season 5 soon. Here’s what we know so far.

Possibilities about BMF Season 5 explored

During the final episode of BMF Season 4, the brothers, Demetrius and Terry, are not on talking terms. The two have a fallout while on a trip to Mexico, and that is seen in the way they handle their business.

On the other hand, familiar faces like Lamar and others, make a comeback and he is hungry to take revenge on the brothers. Towards the end, an unexpected twist takes place as Demetrius is arrested by Detective Bryant and Terry gets involved in a shooting at his restaurant.

Therefore, the BMF Season 4 finale ends on a thrilling note and it seems very likely that the next season will also be given the green light. While there is no official confirmation about Season 5, in February 2025, 50 Cent shared some texts on Instagram, which have now been deleted, and which were allegedly from the actor who plays Demetrius in the show.

In the texts, Demetrius’ actor makes a reference to another season of BMF and many fans thought that the fourth season would be the final season. On the other hand, the Getting It How I Live YouTube page also discussed about the fourth season being the last.

However, with Lamar’s return and his decision to take revenge upon the brothers and the explosive ending where both Demetrius and Terry are in trouble, reveals that Season 5 will most probably take place. The final episode of the fourth season did not feel like the show was going to end anytime soon.

BMF showrunner Heather Zuhlke on Season 5 of the show

In an interview with Variety, BMF showrunner Heather Zuhlke spoke about the explosive Season 4 finale and her hopes for a Season 5. When asked about Lamar, she mentions that if they get a 5th season, they would want new villains, but Lamar will always stay important.

When asked about news regarding BMF Season 5, she states that, “I am eagerly awaiting for news too. Wen want to finish what the creator, Randy Huggins, started.” Zuhlke talks about how the show has been a “labor of love” and she knew Randy and all of them want to keep going for him. “Our hope is that we get to finish what Randy started because we have a lot of story to tell, and we have wonderful fans that we want to write for too.”

Lastly, she states that she has not planned on any themes that will be covered in Season 5 but she will be ready to share once everything gets finalized.
