What to expect in Countdown Episode 9?

The preview of Countdown Episode 9 opens with a shot of Mark Meachum in his house, and the brain tumor seems to be taking over his strength very quickly. The bottle of pills falls out of his hand, and he struggles to pick them up.

On the other hand, back at the headquarters, things appear to be pretty intense, and Oliveras has taken key evidence from the scene of the crime - the file of documents that Astapov was supposed to hand over to Blythe. Even though Agent Bell looks worried about the whole situation, Mark's dialogue reflects the severity of the situation:

"I don't think we are worried about chain of evidence at this point."

The next cut-scene shows that a Russian (identity not revealed yet) was a pivotal connection between Volchek and the Belarusian Consulate, as Agent Evan Shepherd mentions:

"Best I can tell, they were tracking Volchek through a Russian."

The preview of Countdown Episode 9 closes with Detective Oliveras and Mark chasing down "a runner"—probably the Russian that has been mentioned earlier. However, the latest episode has left a lot of questions. With thousands of tons of ammonium nitrate on the move, Volchek seems to be very close to accomplishing his final strike.

Moreover, he has already carried out a test run using a decoy truck to monitor the response from the counter-terrorism units. So, what comes next is highly doubtful. Who will lead the task force now that Blythe has suffered a fatal blow? Will it be our much beloved Jensen Ackles, aka Mark Meachum? However, he himself seems to be on the verge of a breakdown with his brain tumor. All hands are on deck, and each second is precious as the Countdown has already started.
