NCIS: Los Angeles offered actress Andrea Bordeaux more than just a returning role—it gave her training in big-cost, high-stakes TV drama.

Looking back on her time as Special Agent Harley Hidoko in an interview back in 2018, Bordeaux explained the experience as a;

“…Crash course in making action television.”

For someone coming into a long-established franchise, the world of NCIS: Los Angeles turned out to be both a test and a breakthrough for Bordeaux.

A tightly wound set and the family behind NCIS: Los Angeles

Joining the cast of NCIS: Los Angeles meant walking into an already well-lubricated machine. But Andrea Bordeaux found herself to be welcomed into a cast that functioned more like a family than a workplace.

Bordeaux explained;

"The cast really is a family and such a tight-knit group of people…When we’re on set and working, it’s such a great vibe and there’s such great energy.”

Even with big actors like Chris O’Donnell and Linda Hunt, Bordeaux saw how each and every cast member upheld a never-shifting constant work ethic agenda. She recalled;

“Every single day when people show up, they show up ready to work, they show up prepared.”

And while the actors had been at the show for nearly 10 whole years, their hunger for work remained infectious.

“It made me love my job, seeing how much they love theirs.”

The professional atmosphere on NCIS: Los Angeles assisted in easing up Bordeaux’s change from minor guest roles to a series regular.

“It was kind of like boot camp for me…It was really an extended crash course in making action television. This experience is something that I’ll be able to use throughout the rest of my career.”

From fan support to personal milestones—what NCIS: Los Angeles gave Bordeaux

Working on NCIS: Los Angeles also meant treading into the heart of a strong and intensely faithful fan base. Bordeaux did not take this love and support for granted. She said;

“All the fans are the best! They are so kind, supportive, loving, and vocally defensive of everyone on the show…”

That connection she made with the show and her character was quick and shook up the show’s dynamic completely.

“From the time the first episode aired, I was getting tweets and messages from people saying that they love my character and they want to see more of her.”

Fans didn’t just say nice words—they also engaged themselves in fan cams and edits.

“They make really amazing photo edits of cast photos…The fan interaction has been so much fun. It’s probably the most fun thing about being an actor on the show.”

Bordeaux acknowledged NCIS: Los Angeles for helping her grow, not only as an actor but also as someone who is now a storyteller. With her increased screen time on the show and a progressively unfolding character arc, she was finally able to push her character into layered development.

“It’s been like this really nice slow burn where I get to take my time…”

She said the above, explaining how Harley’s development on the show mirrored her own growth as a person while she was on the show.

NCIS: Los Angeles gave Andrea Bordeaux more than just a resume boost—it gave her drive, self-assurance, and creative fulfillment.

From forming bonds with an experienced cast to capturing the adoration of devoted fans, her time on the show became a memorable, career-defining moment—a true crash course in TV.
