Power is diving back into expansion mode with another spin-off currently in development at Starz. After delivering several offshoots since the original show began in 2014, this new chapter looks to carry forward that momentum.

Titled Power: Legacy for now, the project is shaping up to bring together familiar faces and new energy.

Here's everything we know so far about this latest addition to the growing universe and what fans can expect next.

Familiar leads return as the Power franchise eyes a new direction

Starz is continuing to build on the success of Power by moving forward with a new spin-off titled Power: Legacy. This project will reportedly take place in the current timeline and bring back two of the most recognizable characters from the series, like Tariq St. Patrick and Tommy Egan.

Michael Rainey Jr. and Joseph Sikora, who have portrayed the characters across multiple installments, are expected to step back into these roles once again.

The creative reins of Power: Legacy lie with Gary Lennon and Kendra Chapman, both of whom were involved with Power Book IV: Force. Lennon is also expected to serve as the showrunner, helping forward the next phase of storytelling.

The writers' room for this new installment is on the verge of opening, signaling that early development is already underway.

Even though the show is still in its early stages, Power: Legacy appears to follow the events of Force, which is heading into its final season-suggesting a continuation that ties into previous plotlines.

The possibility of characters moving across settings, or even merging storylines between New York and Chicago, offers room for some creative surprises. Whether the show will stick to its familiar backdrop or shift to entirely new territory remains to be seen.

Starz builds a larger Power world as two shows head toward their end

The timing of this new spin-off is significant, especially with Book IV: Force and Book III: Raising Kanan preparing to close out their stories.

Both shows are wrapping up with their upcoming seasons, meaning Starz requires new content to keep the world alive. Power: Legacy seems to be the answer, helping the franchise stay active while older branches conclude.

Meanwhile, another project titled Power: Origins is also in development. This prequel will look at the early years of Ghost and Tommy, set after the events of Raising Kanan. Sascha Penn, who previously worked on Raising Kanan, is leading this one as showrunner, and the writers' room is already gearing up in speed.

With Origins and Legacy, the franchise will have even more space to expand on its world and storytelling. The original series may have come to a close, but Starz clearly isn't done exploring the universe that it has created.

With new ideas in motion and with characters making a comeback, Power's legacy is far from being over just yet.

The Power universe continues to grow, and Power: Legacy could be its next big thing.

With characters making their way back and new creative forces leading, the series looks set to fill the gap left by the shows concluding their runs. For longtime fans, the story isn't ending, and it's simply turning a new page.
