Hilaria Baldwin’s time on Dancing with the Stars ended on Tuesday October 7 when she and her partner Gleb Savchenko got kicked off during Disney Night. The 41-year-old mom of seven tried really hard not to cry but it was kind of tough. Right after leaving she did a quick interview with PEOPLE and talked about what it was like. She didn’t seem mad or anything. She was just really thankful she got to be on the show and do all the dances.
The former yoga instructor had competed for four weeks alongside Savchenko tackling challenging choreography and pushing past her comfort zone. Hilaria revealed she'd done ballroom competitions during college but stopped dancing after a hip injury sidelined her for years. Her return to the dance floor symbolized overcoming physical restrictions and personal concerns. Savchenko commended his celebrity partner's commitment and hard work during their collaboration.
Despite the disappointment of early elimination both dancers emphasized the benefits of their teamwork on Dancing with the Stars. Hilaria promised to continue supporting her previous competitors and vote for all the remaining contenders equally. Her gracious exit stood in contrast to some past eliminations where frustration overshadowed appreciation.
Dancing with the Stars: Hilaria’s elimination and its impact
Hilaria's reaction was one of admiration rather than disappointment.
"The only reason I'm sad is because I was so happy," she said to PEOPLE, holding back tears.
She was unhappy since she had missed out on something fantastic. Hilaria described Dancing with the Stars as "a wonderful experience" and emphasized her delight in working with Savchenko specifically. Her perspective reframed elimination as evidence of how much she'd enjoyed competing rather than failure. Savchenko didn't hold back in praising Hilaria's commitment during their four-week run on Dancing with the Stars.
"You put your heart and soul into dance," he told her.
He highlighted her passion and genuine love for the art form. Drawing on his 35 years of experience, Savchenko acknowledged how difficult mastering dance can be.
"I know how much work it takes to perfect things," he said.
Savchenko thanked her for her diligent efforts and expressed delight in her achievements on the show. He hinted at future collaborations saying that they may continue practicing together. Hilaria demonstrated genuine sportsmanship by promising to help all remaining contenders expressing thanks and pride in everyone still in the tournament. She intended to distribute her ten available votes evenly among the rivals, giving everyone an equal amount as a reflection of the relationships she had developed. Her giving attitude emphasized the real relationships she built during the season, as well as her appreciation for her fellow dancers' efforts.
Hilaria discusses past injuries and fears
Before joining Dancing with the Stars, Hilaria had a tricky history with dancing. Hilaria did ballroom stuff in college but then hurt her hip really badly and had to stop for a long time. Getting back out there was super hard; her body felt weird, and she got kind of nervous.
Her companion on Dancing with the Stars, Gleb, forced her to try techniques she'd never considered, leaving her feeling awkward and ashamed at times. Still, she kept reminding herself that getting well required doing the difficult things. She regarded the entire performance as a playground for trying new things, emphasising experimentation and bravery over impressing the judges or winning a medal. When she was booted from Dancing with the Stars it was more than simply leaving the dance floor. It demonstrated how far she'd pushed herself how stubbornly she refused to give up and how determined she could be whether she was nailing a complex spin or surviving all the insane behind-the-scenes turmoil.
Dancing with the Stars airs Mondays on ABC and streams the next day on Disney+.
