Dancing with the Stars turned spooky on October 28 and not just because it was Halloween Week. Jen Affleck from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives and her partner, Jan Ravnik, had their last twirl after landing near the bottom of the leaderboard. Their modern dance to Taylor Swift's Look What You Made Me Do received 32 out of 40 points, plus two bonus points from the "Dance Monster-thon," but Swift's magic couldn't keep them from being eliminated.

The Halloween event went all out, with frightful costumes, creepy choreography, and a monster-themed dance marathon that had everyone spinning for bonus points. Cheryl Burke appeared as a guest judge, raising the perfect score to 40, and nine couples took the stage, eager for votes. By the end of the night, just eight stars remained in the ballroom to compete for the Mirrorball Trophy. Jen did her best, but on Halloween, the only thing worse than the costumes was being sent home.

What happened in this episode of Dancing with the Stars?

The “Dance Monster-thon” was basically gym class meets disco night, but with sequins. Couples had to perform two rounds: the Hustle to Sophie Ellis-Bextor's Murder on the Dancefloor (the same one from Saltburn) and the Lindy Hop to A Little Party Never Killed Nobody. The idea was simple: keep dancing; the longer you stayed, the more points you got.

Whitney Leavitt demonstrated her incredible stamina by outdancing everyone to take first place and five shiny extra points. Alix Earle wasn’t far behind with four, and the rest collected between one and three, depending on how long they survived before the music or their energy ran out.

Andy Richter was first eliminated from Dancing with the Stars, earning one point. Jen Affleck and Danielle Fishel each received two points after being knocked out second and third, respectively. Dylan Efron and Robert Irwin earned three points, while Jordan Chiles and Alix Earle collected four points before Leavitt's victory.

The Dancing with the Stars episode wasn't without complications. Elaine Hendrix was hospitalized after suffering an injury during rehearsals.

"I feel like my muscle is twisted under my rib," she explained.

Judges scored Hendrix based on her final full rehearsal since she couldn't perform live. She received 32 points but missed the dance marathon entirely on Dancing with the Stars, leaving her unable to add bonus points. Medical professionals have since cleared her to continue competing. Dylan Efron also dealt with an injury after his partner, Daniella Karagach, accidentally broke his nose during training. Despite the setback, he delivered his Halloween routine successfully. Judge Bruno Tonioli praised the performance as:

"All that s*xy, kinky, hot business!"

Alix Earle danced her way to the top with 39 points from the judges plus four from the Monster-thon, that’s a sparkly 43 total. Whitney Leavitt was hot on her heels with 37 plus five bonus points, landing at 42. Right behind them, Robert Irwin rounded out the top three with 38 from the judges and three extras, hitting 41.

Jordan Chiles and Dylan Efron tied for fourth, both sitting pretty at 38, a real mirrorball mirror match. Danielle Fishel landed in sixth with 35, Jen Affleck followed with 34, and Elaine Hendrix slipped into eighth with 32. Andy Richter brought up the rear with 29, but at least he probably had fun doing it.

Who are the remaining competitors?

Eight stars on Dancing with the Stars are still fighting for that shiny Mirrorball Trophy. Olympic champ Jordan Chiles is flipping and twirling with Ezra Sosa. TikTok queen Alix Earle is dancing it out with Val Chmerkovskiy, while Dylan Efron (Zac Efron’s brother) is hitting the floor with Daniella Karagach. Danielle Fishel (aka Topanga from Boy Meets World) is out there living her best dance life with Pasha Pashkov, and Elaine Hendrix, who was the evil stepmom from The Parent Trap, is giving drama and disco with Alan Bersten.

Animal lover Robert Irwin brought some Aussie charm to his routines with Witney Carson on Dancing with the Stars. Whitney Leavitt’s holding her own with dance pro Mark Ballas, and comedian Andy Richter’s wrapping things up with Emma Slater, proving that even if you can’t nail the choreography, you can still land the punchlines.

Dancing with the Stars airs Mondays on ABC and streams the next day on Disney+.
