The road to Daredevil: Born Again was long and memorable, as the original Daredevil series was cancelled on Netflix. Marvel slowly started incorporating the series into the MCU continuity in 2021, with Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk being the antagonist of Hawkeye.

However, one of the most important Matt Murdock appearances before Daredevil: Born Again was in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Before his solo series, Murdock appeared in the eighth episode, where Matt Murdock battled Jen Walters in both the court and in the Daredevil costume. However, fans noticed something different about Murdock's Daredevil costume in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

Matt Murdock's costume is different from the one in Daredevil: Born Again.

When we meet The Man Without Fear for the first time in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, the hero is wearing a yellow Daredevil suit. This costume is designed by the superhero tailor Luke Jacobson, who also designed a wardrobe for She-Hulk in an earlier episode. However, this Jacobson is a different tailor than Melvin Potter, who designed the Daredevil costume in the Netflix series.

That's because Potter is arrested in Daredevil Season 3, and Matt went back homemade black costume from season 1 throughout its entirety. While we don't know why Matt changed suits between Daredevil Season 3 and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, some believe that Matt went back to an armored suit for practical reasons.

While Matt returned to the usual red costume in his flashback appearance in Echo, his change in the She-Hulk series doesn't have a canonical explanation; fans treat it as a homage to Daredevil's first costume in Daredevil #1 (April 1964). But some have another theory regarding the yellow suit.

According to some, the yellow Daredevil suit honors Matt's father:

Some believe that Matt Murdock wanted to pay homage to his late father through the yellow suit we saw in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Fans saw Battlin' Jack Murdock's death in the second episode of season 1 of the original Netflix series. Jack was wearing a red and yellow boxing robe at the time of his death. The Yellow suit retains the color scheme of the robe his father wore at the time of his death.

But Marvel again decided to change the costume for Daredevil: Born Again, Matt returned to his red costume. However, we catch a glimpse of the cowl for the yellow costume with the eye pieces in the show, though. And it seems that fans are getting another costume in Born Again Season 2.

Matt Murdock is donning the black costume in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2:

It seems that Marvel might be correcting the abrupt, unexplained costume changes between Daredevil Season 3, Echo, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and Born Again Season 1. Given that the first season ended with Mayor Wilson Fisk banning vigilantes, Matt might be thinking of changing his costume color again for stealth. Thus, he is donning a black Daredevil costume for Born Again Season 2.

Moreover, the black Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 costume also includes the one iconic aspect that fans have been asking for: the DD chest emblem. This has fans hyped for the upcoming season. Moreover, people involved in the series also confirmed that the upcoming season is a singular vision of showrunner Dario Scardapane from start to finish.

"In Marvel Television’s 'Daredevil: Born Again', Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), a blind lawyer with heightened abilities, is fighting for justice through his bustling law firm, while former mob boss Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) pursues his own political endeavors in New York. When their past identities begin to emerge, both men find themselves on an inevitable collision course."
