Charlie Cox is best known for playing Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, in Daredevil: Born Again and the original Daredevil series. Cox has been playing the MCU character since 2015, and it's safe to say he is the embodiment of Matt Murdock to Marvel fans. However, there is one more Marvel character Cox would like to play.
It is unlikely we'll see Charlie play another Marvel character anytime soon, given that he still has to play the role of Matt Murdock for the near future. Regardless, Matt Murdock has expressed that he would like to play one Marvel hero if he got the chance.
Daredevil: Born Again's Charlie Cox on which other Marvel character he'd like to play
Now that Robert Downey Jr. is returning to the MCU as Dr. Doom after having played Tony Stark/Iron Man in the past, we know it is completely possible for an actor to play a Marvel villain after playing a hero. While we don't know if we'll ever see Charlie Cox play any other MCU character, the actor said he would like to play a Marvel villain.
As Cosmic Marvel (@cosmic_marvel) reported on X, at Comic-Con LA, Charlie Cox and Wilson Bethel were asked which Marvel Cinematic Universe character they would like to play other than their characters, Daredevil and Bullseye, from Daredevil: Born Again. In response, Charlie Cox said,
“I’d like to give Bullseye a go.”
According to Marvel, Bullseye is a psychotic mercenary whose main enemy is Daredevil. He was defeated by Daredevil several times in the comics and was finally killed by him. In Daredevil: Born Again, Bullseye killed Foggy Nelson, which made Matt Murdock leave his Daredevil persona temporarily. Bullseye also killed eleven other innocent people during the attack. After being defeated by Daredevil and thrown off a building, Bullseye survived and was later shown in prison, but he ultimately escaped.
It is interesting that the actor who plays Daredevil would also like to play Bullseye, one of the most popular villains Daredevil faced. It is also unlikely that we would see Charlie Cox play a villain that Daredevil has fought. But if Cox is ever given the opportunity, it would be a treat for Daredevil fans.
On the other hand, Wilson Bethel, who plays Bullseye in Daredevil: Born Again, said,
“Probably Spider-Man. That looks like a lot of fun, but I think I’ve aged out of that."
Spider-Man has traditionally been played by actors in their twenties because Peter Parker is usually a teenager when he gets his powers. Thus, Bethel is right; he has probably aged out to play the role. But the MCU has all kinds of stories for each character, and we never know what tomorrow night brings. In fact, it would be interesting to see what Bethel would bring to the character of Spider-Man if he ever got the chance.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 has been filmed and is aiming for a March 2026 release. Season 3 has been confirmed as well.
Daredevil: Born Again is streaming on Disney+.
