Dateline features another chilling case in its episode titled The Mystery Man. It follows Liam Allen, also known as William Allen Jordan, who fraudulently deceived several women by disguising himself as a CIA agent. His schemes eventually led to several arrests and legal actions, while the case went on for years. What set Liam's fraud apart was his use of multiple aliases to deceive women in the UK and abroad, particularly those seeking romantic relationships.

He used to take a large sum of money from them, saying that he needed help in a covert operation he was involved in, or that he wanted to return to the US. During the early 2000s, some deceptions carried out internationally and in the UK by Jordan came to light. He convinced some women to send him a substantial amount of money because he needed funds either to finance the covert operation he was under or to return to the United States. Jordan's use of multiple aliases, including posing as a CIA agent, earned him trust and discouraged victims from speaking out due to the 'classified' nature of his claims.

But sooner or later, his crimes came out, and later in the 2000s, Jordan was deported from the UK because of these fraudulent activities. Despite his deportation, he continued his deceptive practices upon returning to the United States.

In January 2013, Jordan met Mischele Lewis, a nurse and a single mother, via a dating app. There he introduced himself as Liam Allen and claimed to be an employee of the UK Ministry of Defence. He also mentioned he had a background in intelligence and military operations. Later in May, he told her that she would need a security clearance if they wanted to continue their relationship, for which she would need to pay $5,000. She also received some phone calls from alleged security personnel talking about Liam and their work and demanding $200 or $300 every time.

Mischele then got pregnant, and that was when Jordan gradually started to ghost her now and then. Mischele went through the wallet of her fiancé and found an ID card with the name William Allen Jordan. When she searched the name, she found that he had been jailed and deported from the UK. He was also married to two women at the same time. That was when she decided to film him secretly and hand the tape over to the police.

The next year, around the same time, Jordan was arrested in a parking lot in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, and the officials found some fraudulent identification documents on him. They discovered how he had fathered more than a dozen children with women in several countries, often with multiple women at the same time. This is how investigators uncovered his pattern of emotionally manipulative fraud.

Post-2014, despite the arrest, he was still able to engage in fraudulent activities while utilising various aliases to exploit individuals.

Jordan faced multiple charges related to fraud and identity theft, and in 2015, he was convicted and sentenced to prison for his crimes, as shown on Dateline. He was then released and deported back to the United Kingdom. Currently, despite his criminal history, his whereabouts in the country aren't clear, as he continues to use various aliases to evade detection. Despite the charges and imprisonment, Jordan has continued this pattern of behaviour.

Some psychologists also analyze how he possesses traits of a narcissistic individual with sociopathic tendencies, per Dateline. His ability to manipulate and deceive individuals, coupled with a lack of empathy for his victims, shows that his criminal behaviour is also psychologically complex.
