According to People Magazine, Kristil Krug was found dead in her house in Broomfield.

The authorities looked into the case, leading to the events when she believed she was being harassed by her ex-boyfriend, who allegedly couldn't get over their break-up many years ago. She started receiving threatening messages from this man, who identified himself as 'Anthony'. According to NBC, that was in reference to her former boyfriend, Jack Anthony Holland.

The notes she received reportedly showed the perpetrator wanting to "get rid" of Daniel so that they could be together. CBS News also revealed another text she received, which reportedly reads:

"U dont want him I know u want me.”

In December 2023, she requested a welfare check from the police after she couldn't respond to the perpetrator. By the time the authorities arrived at her garage, she had suffered severe hand trauma and a stab wound in the chest. Later, she was pronounced dead. The eventual investigation, as explored in the Dateline episode, led to her husband being discovered as the perpetrator.

In a press release, here's what District Attorney Brian Mason said, as revealed by People Magazine,

"This was a brutal, calculated murder, preceded by months of manipulation, emotional abuse, and deception. In planning and executing this horrific crime, Daniel Krug terrorized his wife, his children, and an innocent man-all in order to control and then murder a woman who no longer wanted to be with him."

The Dateline episode showed Kristil keeping a "stalker log" from the time she was being harassed. The investigation revealed that the texts were coming from a public wi-fi network in Daniel's building.

It was one part of the evidence that led to Daniel being convicted of first-degree murder, one count of criminal impersonation, and two counts of stalking, according to People Magazine.
