The Studio is a satirical, cringeworthy comedy series developed by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and others, and the famous show majorly stars Rogen as Matt Remick who is, as per the show's storyline, the new CEO of Continental Studios and trying to combine business constraints with his desire to make outstanding films.

Catherine O'Hara, Ike Barinholtz, Chase Sui Wonders, and Kathryn Hahn play supporting parts, and The Studio, which aired on Apple TV+ in March 2025, is known for its comedy, extended takes, and celebrity appearances, and it has been renewed for a second season. The series satirizes the film business while delving into creative issues in Hollywood.

In an interview with People, Seth Rogen stated that the characters in The Studio were adapted to the individual characteristics of celebrities. He added that there were few performers who could play the characters they had in mind, and Franco was one of those rare matches.

In The Studio, an Apple TV+ series, Dave Franco plays a fictitious version of himself as a Hollywood action star and party animal. The show's co-creator, Seth Rogen, claimed that Franco's role was written just for him, taking into consideration his unique talents. Rogen underlined that Franco's ability to handle both emotional and hilarious moments was taken into account when developing the narrative. Franco can show off his flamboyant and eccentric personality in this role, which fits nicely with the program's satirical portrayal of the film industry.

In The Studio, Franco's character is depicted having a great time during crazy party scenes, such as one that takes place in Las Vegas at a CinemaCon event that Rogen's character is hosting. The show's tone is consistent with this blend of frantic humor and sporadic somber periods. Given their long-standing relationship and Franco's talent for enlivening both tragic and humorous situations, Rogen noted that Franco was the perfect fit for this part.

In an interview with People, Rogen said that when developing Franco's multi-episode narrative, they considered who would be credible in a tragic Ron Howard film but also capable of returning to do something "truly ridiculous, stupid" later in the season. Rogen further said,

"Honestly, there were very few people that could have filled the roles that the people had filled because we really specifically were catering the stories to certain traits that celebrities have."

Franco's portrayal in the program emphasizes his comic talents and public persona in an exaggerated manner that complements the series' sarcastic humour. Rogen stated that few actors could do the character as effectively as Franco, making the casting decision simple. The character's larger-than-life demeanor allows Franco to capitalize on his established Hollywood image while keeping the show's comic and ridiculous tone.

Dave Franco was born in Palo Alto, California, in 1985 and began his career with small roles in Superbad (2007) and Charlie St. Cloud (2010) and he became widely known for his role in 21 Jump Street (2012) and the famous actor also starred in Now You See Me (2013), Neighbors (2014), and The Disaster Artist (2017).
